The beginning of the week was much the same as last week. Hyrum and I have the same routine all day and night. Every two to three hours he eats, I change his diaper, and then he sleeps. At night I try to get some sleep as well. I do miss my sleep, but soon enough he will be sleeping through the night. Mom has been here all week cooking, cleaning, and cuddling the baby when I am trying to get some extra sleep.
Tim finished up his second week of exams. This coming week will be his last and then he will officially be a second year medical student. He is very ready to be done and finding it more and more difficult to study. The end is so close! He still studies hard, but you know how it is...
Dad flew in on Friday. He got into Houston just before heavy traffic started. He made it in very good time and only missed our exit by one. It was an easy fix. Traffic is crazy and the roads are even crazier! Saturday, Mom and Dad did some exploring in Galveston. It was very hot and humid, so they didn't stay too long. They stopped and got some BBQ for dinner. Dad's assessment was that it wasn't super awesome. I am not sure he will find any BBQ to his taste in Texas because BBQ in Texas is made differently in Texas.
Mom has been wishing for a good thunderstorm while she was here. They don't really have thunderstorms in southern Utah. She got her wish on Saturday. The only downside was that they had to drive in it. It is always scary to drive in Houston, but even more so in rain...drivers tend to forget the basic driving rules. We had a few close strikes that Hyrum handled like a champ. Tim and I jumped, but it didn't phase him at all.
Sunday was a busy day. We decided to bless Hyrum at home, because he is still so young. Everyone went to church and then after church everyone showed up for some lunch and then to bless the baby. Several of Tim's brothers were able to come by. Below is a picture with grandparents and then with all those that were in the circle.
It was a wonderful experience to bless Hyrum. I felt the spirit very strongly during the blessing and felt grateful to be his mother. I kept thinking that we had a long road to travel with him to prepare him for all that is in his future.
Next week we fly solo for the first time...it should be interesting!
