Happy 4th of July!

This week was all about getting to the weekend.  I worked a normal week and Tim worked with a Family medicine doctor.  He has really enjoyed his time with this doctor.  He feels he is getting a little more hands on experience and the doctor is a lot better at teaching about different things that have come up.  We were most excited for the weekend because Erin came in and we had some adventures planned.

We survived the heat, some rain, and normal life until 4 pm on Friday.  I left work to pick up Hyrum and Erin and I got to the apartment at about the same time.  She made great time getting through the traffic.  I was half expecting her to take an extra hour to get to our apartment because of rush hour traffic.  That evening we ate dinner and caught up on life.

Saturday was our adventure day.  We left our apartment close to 10 am and drove to La Grange, Texas.  They have a Czech museum and cultural area that we went to see. The museum had a lot of genealogy and different things those that settled the area would have had or worn.  They had also brought in donated original family buildings.  We toured a home that focused on the music and a general store.  It was really interesting to learn more about where we came from and our heritage.  I am excited to go to Wilson at the end of the month to learn more about our family specifically.

After the museum we went and visited the old sheriff house that house all the jails.  We took a couple of pictures of us next to one of the cells.

Our next stop was further south to a painted church.  I had no idea we had some many of these churches, but apparently those that settled the area were very religious and took seriously building their churches and making them places of beauty.

We ended the day with some BBQ, which was tasty.  Erin came to church with us today.  Tim got a new calling.  He is now the Ward Mission Leader.  There will be a lot of work for him to do with such a large area and so many people being taught the gospel.  I took Erin on a Medical Center tour after church.  She was impressed with how many hospitals and research buildings were so close together.

Tomorrow we will go to a children's parade and festival in the morning.  It has been pushing 100 with high humidity, so it is too hot to be out later in the day.  I don't have to work on Monday, so I am very excited to have an extra day with the family.

Here's to another week!
