And so we keep moving...

It was another week for us.  We had our ups and downs.  Hyrum is back to struggling with sleep again.  Last week he was up twice a night and it carried into this week and  growth spurt.  He always seems to really struggle getting back into sound sleeping.  He does great going to sleep.  I pretty much just lay him down and he goes to sleep by himself without a fuss.  The only trouble is he won't stay asleep!

We decided that it it's time to break the night waking.  After we were sure his growth spurt was over we chose the midnight feeding.  The first night he screamed for an hour, the second night was 45 minutes, and last night he woke up for a few minutes and went back down.  Maybe is is a good sign...I have learned not to get my hopes up.  I realized that he will be nine months this week and thinking ahead we need to be switching our thinking to weaning and getting him more into solid foods.  It is crazy to think that a year has almost past since he was born.

This week he advanced to 3-4 crawls before going to his stomach.  He is getting better at pulling himself up and we are to the point that he can steadily hold himself up.  I can step away to grab something with worrying that he will fall over.  We have also been working on how to sit from the standing position.  He usually cries when he fell, but with a little encouragement he is now seeing that it is okay.   He is getting more bold with his walking.  He will let go of a finger and step and reach for a wall.

We are exploring more of a variety of food with him.  We tried break a while ago, but he just picked at it.  We tried toast this last week and he pretty much ate a whole slice with his dinner.  We also tried blackberries and edamame.  I think the blackberries were a little tart, but he still liked them.  The edamame was the firmest of the soft foods we have given him.  He enjoyed munching on them.  We have officially gone back to Cheerios.  We stopped for a while, because I wanted to try the baby puff cereal.  We have found that it is the only thing he flat out refuses to eat.  He will even take applesauce now.

Whew!  That was quite the Hyrum update!

Tim and I are as boring as ever.  He studies a lot and I work a lot.  He had an exam this last week that he did well on.  He is struggling to balance studying for the STEP exam and his normal classes.  I really don't think you can find a balance.  Work has been busy for me.  The days pass quickly.

Our office area was renovated this last week.  We have new lights that are VERY bright.  We don't have any windows in our area, so it is typically dark.  They also gave us new carpet and painted the walls.  Unfortunately, we will not be her for much longer.  We received word that in May we will be transferred to the Med Center.  The office space is nice over there and I will be able to take the UT bus, which is free.  Which means we save on gas and we don't have to pay for parking, because in Houston you have to pay to go to work...grrr.

That is about all from us.  We did survive all the rain.  There was a lot!  I am going to need to invest in rain boots!
