Yep! That's right...he is 11 months today. We managed to get this one this morning. It is getting harder and harder to get him to sit still. I get a chance to focus the camera and before I can take the picture he is off and moving. I know I am biased, but I think he is rather cute.
This last week he started saying, "bye, bye" when he waves. I doubt he has actually made the connection, but Hyrum is very chatty and many times he will respond to Tim and I it almost sounds like real words. It will be fun to watch his language development in the coming year. He continues to walk everywhere. He hasn't mastered standing on his own, but he he will crawl over to furniture to help himself get up and then take off walking.
Tim and I always have routine weeks. There really wasn't anything going on during the week for either of us. Tim did take a practice STEP exam. It was really long and really hard. He should get the results back soon. Tim thinks it will be a good way to get him studying harder. He recently purchased some study material that has been really helpful. We are on the 90 day countdown until the real deal.
On Friday we went out to Baskin Robbins. Tim had never been, but he said it was tasty. He got a cone with three flavors. Two of the flavors were some sort of chocolate and peanut butter combination. Hyrum did really well not wandering off while we ate our cones. We did have a little trouble with him wanting to sit down and crawl on the sidewalk. Not so good for the hands and knees.
For your humor of the day, we had a major mom fail at church. If I don't stay on top of changing his diapers they tend to leak through. Well, between the beginning of church and after feeding him half way through church we had major leakage. Tim took him out to change him and we realized that I did not put in an extra outfit. I usually have one that stays in his bag, but it wasn't there. I was getting stuff ready for primary when I saw him dressed in his jacket and "skirt." Tim tied a blanket around his waist and he walked around church for the next hour like that. I just had to laugh, and let it go. I am learning that it is impossible to be perfect at being a mother. You just have to roll with it and when you forget an extra outfit and your husband covers him with whatever he can find the bag...just laugh and keep on going.
We are really excited for General Conference. We are going to go down to visit Tim's parents and one of his brothers who brought his kids for a visit during their Spring break. It will be great to visit everyone and to watch and listen to what church leaders. If the Women's session is any indication, it should be good.
We are also excited for the week after, because our stake has called a special meeting for that Sunday. We are guessing there is some sort of reorganizing happening or our Stake President is being released. He hasn't been in for very long...but family circumstances change. Tim also guessed they could be creating another ward. There aren't too many reasons why a presiding authority would come to visit. We will just have to wait and see.
Until next week!
