It's a picture heavy week...hope that's okay. It was a busy week for us. We had lots going on, mostly because of Valentine's Day.
But, let's start off with a little of the other stuff. Hyrum continues to learn and grow. He has started using pronouns more. Language and development in general has always been interesting to me, especially at this age when it's rapidly changing. He makes connections and uses his knowledge to play. I'm not sure where it came from, but this week he decided that bear needed a diaper change. He rain to his room to get a diaper and tried to change bear's diaper, not that he had one to begin with. I thought it was really cute.
A downside we are discovering to his learning and development and that is starting to stress mom out is sleep time. Hyrum has always been very good at falling asleep. We have been very lucky. The past few weeks he has taken to talking, laughing, singing, jumping, and just about anything else besides falling asleep. Instead of him being asleep within 15 minutes, we are at 60+ minutes. The longest it took him was two hours. Once he falls asleep it will be for the normal 1.5 hours for a nap and 12 for nighttime. He just doesn't fall asleep. We hoped it was just a phase...some sort of sleep regression, but after three weeks we figured it's a problem that we need to take care of. So, we changed up the routine to be even less stimulating, took away the pillow, and started playing music. We are on day two, and hopefully he will get better.
On Monday, Hyrum and I made heart cookies to take to our neighbors. Hyrum loves to get his bowl and spoon and stir or mix along with me. He also likes to taste test...but who doesn't! After we finished them we delivered them, which is always exciting for Hyrum.
Tim continued to work in the hospital or clinics depending on the day. He is really close to being done with this rotation and then he will be on family medicine. It's crazy to think that we have three rotations left and then we will be done with year 3 of medical school. I'm still not sure I can say it is official, but Tim continues to turn his focus and efforts to dermatology. He has been working on one case report and has a couple of more he may be able to start. I think he would like to present at a conference if he can, which will really help him as he applies.
Wednesday was Valentine's Day! It was a day of hearts. I made pizza and cake to celebrate. The heart pizza was more rounded, but it was fine...Tim still ate it. To quote him, "Pizza equals love," so I guess I am covered not matter how it looks. I also saw an easy way to make a heart cake, which was very easy, but it turned out to be much bigger than I thought. I definitely didn't make enough frosting!
Wednesday I also fit in a doctor's appointment. As you can see from the picture we will be adding to our family! It was the first one and all seems to be going well. The heartbeat is strong! I am twelve weeks along and the due date is September 1st, but we will see if this one wants to hang out longer like Hyrum.
Thursday, Tim played soccer. The team he had played with the past couple of years was short a player, so I got the text saying he was going to play that night. He was really excited to play...he has missed it!
Tim was on call Saturday. After making biscuits and gravy for breakfast, Hyrum and I decided to go on an adventure. I have wanted to walk to the medical center to look at the waterfalls and water fountains. There are some really cool ones, but you can't just park and look at them. The easiest way is to walk. So, that's what we did! I checked the weather and it wasn't supposed to rain, so I figured we would be fine, but half way there it started raining. It wasn't too bad. We were still able to see all we wanted to and we managed to catch Tim between patients to have lunch. Definitely a fun adventure!
It was action packed for us this week. Tim will take his exam on Friday and then have the weekend off before starting his next rotation. Hope everyone had lots of love this week!
