The best way to describe our week is using the roller coaster analogy. I am sure many of you can relate. We started off the week in our little family car slowly up the incline with anticipation. By midweek we looked over the edge and realized just how high up we were and started getting a little nervous. The rest of the week was the wide eyed, screaming your head off, yelling, "What was I thinking?" Yeah, it was one of those weeks.
We started off the week with Lila flipping her day and night schedule. We had several nights of her getting up to eat and then right back to sleep. The unfortunate downside was that the 12-3 crying in the night switched to the day. While not fun, I decided that I was much happier dealing with crying during the day and than the night. Tim was happier, because he got more sleep and a happier wife...both very good things.
Tim took Monday off to study for his big exam on Tuesday. He spent all day meeting with pretend patients and being graded by the patients. We celebrated with party pancakes. What are party pancakes? Well, it's just pancakes with food coloring. But, put the word party in front of any word and you instantly have something far more exciting than it really is to a two year old.

They were Hyrum approved. The blue ones were his favorite. Tim enjoyed them because, well everything is more fun with a two year old!
Wednesday, Tim was back in the Medical Center finishing up his last week of the previous rotation. Lila started getting really colicky in the mornings...like the inconsolable screaming kind. Things only got worse because she would go four plus hours without sleep, which only makes things worse. To make a long story short, things just got worse as the week went on.
Poor Hyrum got set aside, because baby needed so much attention. We were planning on attending the co op preschool on Thursday, which would have been fun, but Wednesday night we found out that it was canceled due to the fact that 3 of the 4 kids were sick. So, Hyrum and I did preschool at home. We did the letter D. Hyrum went and picked some leaves for Tim's hair and he decided that the red ones needed to be his feet. He also did a fine motor letter hunt using shredded paper. We ended preschool with donuts. That's probably the part he remembered the most and to be honest the part he enjoyed.
Friday, Lila had her second newborn appointment, where I brought up all our concerns with projectile vomit...oh yeah...not sure if I mention that, but that started...no bueno. We also talked about some other GI problems and by the end I was calling to make an appointment for an ultrasound at the hospital. She wanted to rule out pyloric stenosis. Luckily, she doesn't have that, but I am now off dairy for a bit to see if that will help. There are a few other things that we are going to try to help her be more comfortable until hopefully she grows out of it. By the time we got home, it was too late for Hyrum to take a nap and Lila was past due for a nap. Needless to say it was an emotional afternoon and evening. I was ready for the roller coaster week to be over.
But, with an angel face like this...life can't be that bad right!
