We had a fun, busy week. Our fun is probably different than others. We were out every day doing things, mostly errands, but we got out of the house. It's always nice to have the car
The weather was nicer so we spent more time outside. Hyrum always likes being outside. I wish Lila could walk, because she could be out of her stroller playing too. Hyrum enjoyed playing at the library twice this week. He also had a play date with a little girl in our ward. He also went swimming several times this week. We went with Tim on Tuesday, at a ward party on Friday, and on Saturday as a family. Every time he went he seemed to get a little more comfortable until he decided on Saturday that he could swim by himself. We were shocked and very happy for him. Friday evening there was a ward swim party. I stayed home with Lila, while Tim took Hyrum. Hyrum loved it because he got to stay up very late, eat popsicles, and he saw stars. He was so excited to see them. It's sounds sad that this was the first time he has seen stars, but you really can't see anything in Houston.
As I mentioned, this weekend was our family party weekend! Tim and I sat down on Thursday night to make sure we had some plans, because we are notorious for not having any. We realized all we had were food plans, so we came up with some ideas. Saturday, I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Lila loved it! Thankfully, I made lots of extra, because our family loves it. We went to a park to play and have lunch and then swimming in the evening. Church was nice to just be together. Monday we plan to do some more swimming and possibly a state park. I will probably also fit in some other things in preparation for the hurricane this week. Speaking of which, there may not be a post next week...it just depends on how things go!
Enjoy your Labor Day!

Lila refuses to take more than five steps. She has it, but just won't do more than that. We will get her yet! She has started folding her arms for prayer. One day she just did it and now any time we pray she will clasp her hands it is super cute. She has another tooth coming in. Knowing her it will be several more weeks until it pokes through. Until then she is a little cranky and doesn't take very good naps. She also learned how to climb stairs. At our play date, the kids went upstairs and I was quickly clearing a path through the toys. I turned to Lila and she was half way up the stairs. When she gets her mind set, she is gone. She has also start jabbering more in phrases. 'D' words are her favorite! She is ever our little fish swimming in the pool.
Tim was busy all week with his rotation. He had a rocky start to the week, because he misread his schedule for Monday and was at the wrong place. Things worked out the rest of the week. He was home early one day and has a three day weekend. We lucked out with the long weekend because he is on an out patient rotation. He has enjoyed being at church. He won't be able to attend until October.
I spent my week getting ready for preschool to start. I decided to start in September with Hyrum, so I have been getting some materials ready and finding books. I will be very simple, more to just keep him mind moving and maybe get him reading. He is really close to reading already...he just doesn't know it! He is super excited and asks every day if it's preschool. I also finished Lila's birthday blanket. The pattern is a rag quilt. One side is fringe. Tim was a great help ironing seams, picking out seams, and finding creative ways fix my sewing mistakes. I'm not a quilter, so it can be frustrating. I officially finished our 72 hour kits. Apparently, just in time as we are expecting our first hurricane of the season.
