December!

We made it through the week.  The kids seemed to adjust to not having Tim around as much.  Tim's rotation has been easier than he expected.  Usually this service is a constant busy, but one day this week he only had one patient admitted, which is unheard of.  We enjoyed having him for dinner.  We will see how next week goes.

Hyrum was busy this week with play dates and preschool.  We started up preschool again and he seemed to jump right back in and enjoy learning.  We went to the church on Wednesday to play with the church group and also went over to someone's house to play.  He always like playing with other kids and getting out.  Tim took him to the park for a couple of hours where he ran around with another little boy and some sketchy skater kids.  Tim commented that you really can't judge the kids by their looks, because they were great and specifically came to play with the kids.  They'll just regret their clothing and hair choices in 20 years.  Hyrum has been into camping and making sleeping bags for his tents.  I finally dug out a sleeping bag for him to play with and it kept him busy for several hours on Sunday.

Lila continues to explore and get into everything!  She continues to copy what she sees and loves to be up to see.  She is very creative in getting up!  She has started pulling cans off the shelves and lining them up on the floor so she can see up on the counter.  It makes it difficult to get around in our tiny kitchen having to doge cans.  She is super cute, so usually she gives a big smile and it's all okay.  We have been working with her on nose, eye and ear.  She correctly identifies them and has just started saying nose.  She is also into hair.  She and Hyrum had combs out this week brushing my hair.  We are definitely working on being gentle while combing.

Lila is getting into the picky food phase.  It's really annoying.  Foods that she has loved from the start are hard to get her to eat.  I am hoping we can work through it like we did Hyrum and have a happy kid who eats just about anything.  Until then...there's spaghetti!

My week started off great, but ended not so great.  I got started on the dress up costumes for Christmas.  I made great progress and should finishing sewing everything next week.  Hyrum has been struggling with his agency.  We are experiencing the long suffering part of parenting that is stressful, especially when it is usually just me.  We had a couple of good days with kids sleeping through the night, which meant I had a full seven hours, but restfulness was short lived and I was up the rest of the week.  My parenting is never good on sketchy sleep.  Saturday was Tim's day off and it was a good thing because it was a bad day.  Lila woke up screaming and continued to cry for about an hour, Hyrum was being deliberately disobedient and had a complete meltdown for about an hour, and when I went out to take a break and pick up the stocking stuffers, someone hit our parked car and left.  I may or may not have cried.  But, Tim brought home ice cream to make shakes and we had a FANTASTIC Stake Christmas fireside and I am doing much better.

Here's to a new week!
