What a week! Everyone was sick this week, so we were limited in what we did outside of the house with other people. Probably, the most exciting thing this week was snow! I kept hearing from long time North Carolina residents that it only snows in January, well it snows in February too. More on that later.
Tim is half way through his oncology service. It's another service with some long hours. From what I gather from Tim, it isn't too difficult, but it does take a lot of brain power to get plans organized for patients and to more carefully monitor their health (not that all patients aren't carefully monitored). Fluctuations that are considered okay are not okay with these patients. He seems to be taking it in stride.
Hyrum was the first to fall sick at the house. I fell sick the next day. I think his was the worse with watery eyes and a runny nose. We stayed home from all activities that would put him in contact with other kids. He past the time using his imagination creating trains and building vehicles for his animals that will transform at the push of a button. He also spent plenty of time runny around like a crazy kid. We had a couple of days of warmer weather where we were able to go outside and roam around to burn off some of the energy.
Lila learned to say bye bye. I was so shocked when she actually said it. It was so clear. She is super smart and we know she is understanding what we are saying, she just isn't as articulate as Hyrum was at this age. She was the last to get sick a the house. Tim has managed to escape sickness once again! She developed a very runny nose that has made it difficult to breathe, which makes it difficult to sleep at night and eat/drink. She stayed home from church. It was nice to have Tim home, so we could switch off and both of us were able to go to a sacrament meeting. Lila loved the snow and enjoyed exploring it. She also enjoyed some outside time.
I'll leave you with a couple of funny Hyrum quotes. As we were heading out to see the snow, Hyrum said, "The snow is adorable!" Shortly after we heard, "My first snow licks!" He enjoyed licking the now, which because a problem the next day as he was licking snow from suspect places.

Thursday, we waited all day for the snow to start. They weather kept on saying that it would come and around 2 pm we could finally see the snow. The kids loved to watch it fall. Tim was able to get home early, so we took both kids outside to play in it. They both had a blast. It next day it was in the 50s, so the snow was gone.

My cold has hung around for several days now. I have a constant sore throat. It isn't serious, just enough to be annoying. Besides trying to entertain sick kids, there wasn't much excitement. Last week I picked up a veggie spiralizer for free. Hyrum and I have been watching videos in preparation of using it. He had a blast helping with the veggies and they turned out really tasty. I think our next adventure will be to do some curly fries. Today was in the 60s, so we opted for some family time in the great outdoors. We have a forested park across the street that we have been to several times without Tim. We took him this time and walked around. It was great to see Hyrum running around jumping off things other than furniture.
