We had quite the week. Tim had most of it off, with only a couple of days of clinic and a high school football game. Next week he will be on nights. He found out that his sports medicine poster was accepted for a conference and he also started preparing for his last presentation that he will give as a second year resident.
But, let's get into what you all come here for any way...the kids. Hyrum is really growing up. Last week he decided that he wanted to try riding his bike without training wheels and he did so well. The week he only got better. He can push off on his own and really ride until he wants to stop. He likes to go off curbs too. We have to stay on him to look where he is going because he likes to watch himself zoom to his own theme beatboxing. He also decided that it's okay for him to read other than when mom and dad say it's time for him to practice. More and more we are finding him reading words and stories. He even read a bedtime story to Tim.
Lila is our resident speed demon. Mercy that girl likes to go fast. We spent a lot of time over at the church so Hyrum could practice. She has a balance bike that she rides around on. She discovered the back parking lot has a slope and she will start at the top and lift her feet and fly down the hill. The tricky part is that she has to turn at the end and she crashed a few times getting distracted by the rush. To her credit if she wasn't too seriously hurt, she would hop back up after a hug and go right back to the top of the hill. We have been trying to get out to the playgrounds more, especially since they finally knocked down the rickety one at our complex. She is so different from Hyrum. Tim was commenting on how it will be interesting to see her personality as she gets older. Hyrum is always larger than life, full of energy at home or with others. Lila is all over the place at home, but tends to either play quietly by herself or stare/stand awkwardly next to kids as they play. Hopefully, more kids her age will start coming to parks and she can get some practice interacting with kids her age.
Liam was very determined this week. Determined not to sleep at night, determined to stuff toys in his mouth that were too big, determined not to nap in his pack n play, and determined to be heard. Hopefully, the determination will carry on in a positive way, especially so I can get some sleep. He is getting too big for his bassinet, and we are trying to transition to him sleeping flat and it's not going well. He also decided that it's time for his four month sleep regression, so he was up for multiple hours at night during the week. He is also finding his voice and trying to compete with older siblings to see who can be the loudest. It may be time for mama to get some earplugs.
The weatherman says that it is supposed to be in the 70s next week, so here's to wearing the kids out so much that they sleep longer and are too tired to be loud.
