Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  We hope everyone had a great day eating too much turkey and enjoying all we have to be thankful for.  It was a busy week for us.  Tim was on nights, so he slept during the day and saw the kids for an hour or so before leaving for the hospital.  From what I was able to put together, this particular service was very busy because they get a couple more admissions at night than any other service, and they were just complicated patients...aren't they all!

Hyrum had school on Monday and Tuesday.  I took advantage of the calmer days to get some Thanksgiving cooking done.  Lila and I started off with cranberry salad.  We made pies on Tuesday and rolls on Wednesday.  I think she liked the taste testing best.  Liam got to experience some new flavors.  I am happy to report he likes cranberry salad.  I also ran some errands to get them out of the way before all three kids were home.

Wednesday the older two had a Thanksgiving friend party.  A neighbor hosted a little gathering for the kids and they enjoyed treats, movie, and games.

This was pie day!  Lila asked to lick the beaters and Liam was eyeing them as well.  Liam has figured out how to climb the stepstool.  It doesn't really work for Liam and Lila to share.  At this age we had the same problem with Hyrum and Lila.  Lila wanted to be in on the action, but couldn't see without the stool.  Lila isn't quite as tall as Hyrum was, so she can't really use our other little step.  We'll make it!

Thursday started off with a normal morning.  But, Liam decided to take his first steps!  I spent the rest of the morning following him around trying to get a good video for Tim and helping him gain confidence.  We did turkey for dinner, so I really didn't need to start anything until lunch time.  I was able to get everything on the table with all the usual craziness.  Tim came down to join us.  I think this was my best turkey yet!  It's also the first turkey that I was confident in my thermometer placement.  We enjoyed some very moist turkey and delicious sides and pies.  Hyrum decided that eating his food super fast was a great idea even after being warned.  He ended up getting sick during dinner.  It was a hard lesson to learn.

Friday was our recovery day.  It was also the first day of celebrating Christmas.  I'm that person who had to wait until we have celebrated a holiday before we start on the next.  The kids and I set up the tree and decorations.  They also enjoyed watching Rudolf and eating popcorn.  The kids played with a neighbor kid for most of the  afternoon.  He join us for the movie and playing legos with Hyrum and then playing outside.  Tim found out after he woke up that the resident that he is sharing this rotation with wanted to switch her nights, so she could just get it done.  He accepted and was able to go with us to check out a new kids museum.  It's geared towards kids.  They had some really fun things for the kids to do.  My personal favorite was the animation room.  They kids colored a vehicle and than put it under some sort of camera and then it went to the screen and started moving.  Hyrum chose a car and Lila did a hot air balloon.  They had lots of other fun areas to explore.

Liam spent most of his time in the stroller, but they did have an area just for his age.  He got to crawl around and look at fish.  He also go to play with giant legos.

We were able to go to church together this Sunday.  It was actually a big help, because half the primary presidency was out of town and the third member was in quarantine for covid.  I was flying solo with getting everything set up and getting our new nursery leaders settled in.  All the teachers showed up and no one got lost or hurt, so I'm calling it a success.

Hyrum starts back on Monday, and we will settle back into a routine.  Tim will be home for a few days and then he will go back to nights the last half of the week and weekend.  Until December!
