We had a whirlwind of a week, with lots of sitting. Monday was very busy running last minute errands, packing and getting everything ready for our 11 hour road trip to visit my parents. I had all the kids in tow, as Tim was sleeping preparing for his last night of nights.
Tuesday morning we were all up early. Tim got home from work and ran upstairs to shower quickly, while I loaded the van and kids. We were on the road by eight in the morning. This was our first road trip in the van and it was very pleasant. I really liked being able to spread the kids out and being able to be in the back to help with food and entertaining the kids. I drove to Tennessee, where Tim took over for a few hours. Sleeping in the van is never ideal. I drove for the majority of the way to Illinois. We hit construction and an accident, so we didn't make very great time. That coupled with multiple unplanned potty breaks and a very messy diaper to change made for a very long day. But, we made it just in time for dinner.
The kids were able to see Great Grandma Kluber and Aunt Erin before they had to leave. It was fun for them to get to spend time with them, as it doesn't happen very often. They also really enjoyed opening more presents. Hyrum has been in lego heaven and Lila is in love with her purse and sun glasses. She was constantly carrying them around. Some highlights from the trip were playing with grandma's toys, helping to bake Grandpa Kluber's birthday cake, the oreo eating tutorial from grandpa, centrifugal force hugs with grandpa, fixing grandma's hair, and driving the lawnmower.
The week passed all to quickly and we were back in the van to sit. We left even earlier in the morning, because we didn't have time in our favor heading home. Lila crashed within the first couple of hours. I snapped this picture of her sleeping with her beloved shades. We made excellent time on the way home, and made it just in time for dinner and bed.
Getting to church was a little chaotic because we switched to 9 am church. We have been at late church for a couple of years now, so getting up and leaving for church was hard. It was also the first day of the New Year in primary, so there was lots of excitement and a few tears as we helped kids get to classes and know where to sit. There was just myself and the secretary running the show and I think it well. It will take some getting used to, but I think the kids will like having morning church. I know I already do!Tim and Hyrum have Monday off. Tuesday we go back to the normal routine. Tim will be working days in the hospital for two weeks before he goes back on nights. We are on the downhill slide for finishing residency. We only have about 4 more six week rotations and then he will be done and in fellowship! Until next week!
