Snow #4

Another January week has passed and we had another snow.  This one wasn't too big and didn't cause any delays or closures.  I was a chicken and kept the kids in because it was much windier than normal.  Living in south Texas for four years has ruined me!  I was also sick for most of the week, so that was also a good reason to stay out of the cold.

We started off the week helping a neighbor with their car.  It was a dead battery, so we ended up letting them borrow our van, so they could get a replacement battery.  Tim was/is on nights.  He has to be at the hospital at six instead of seven, so dinner time was a little wonky this week.  We are down in less than five weeks of nights left in residency.  It's crazy that we are getting so close to so many lasts.

Liam turned on the charm this week.  He was just super cute exploring his fine and gross motor skills.  He likes climbing into and on top of things.  Sometimes watching him, I get flashbacks to Lila.  They both really like putting things into containers and cups.  It's so interesting and I am just feeling blessed that he is occupied for a few minutes instead of rampaging through the kitchen.  Among other things, he has learned to take the clip off the pretzels, which he calls "cacka."  Luckily he only dumped a mostly empty bag.  He likes to go through the recycle and I get to pick up trash all over the house.  He also discovered the the tiny space under the stove is a perfect fit for cars.  He learned to say "go, go" and randomly started clasping his hands for prayers...if only we could get the other two to follow we might have a little bit of reverence.  When he go goes, he is usually running crazy with the other two.

Lila discovered Dr. Seuss finally!  It took some convincing, but I am now reading The Cat and the Hat and The Cat and the Hat Comes Back several times a day.  She continues to enjoy learning and is getting into just looking at pictures.  She has always been my mover and never one to sit and look.  She got to go to the library a couple of times this week and all the kids enjoyed looking at books.  Liam was trying to be like the older two.

Towards the end of the week she had a playdate with a friend and loved attending Sunbeams.  She is so pumped to come to primary.  Music time is a little long, but she is all smiles as she heads to class.  She is also all smiles at swim class.  She is already looking more comfortable in the water.

Hyrum loves his class too.  There is only one other student, so he gets lots of one on one attention.  He is working on closing his mouth to dunk his head and boy howdy can he dunk his head.  It's kind of funny to watch him...but I am grateful because I'd like to swim a lot this summer and I need at least one of the older two to be more independent.  This week he also started meeting with a first grade teacher for reading.  She did some games as assessments of the first few days and Friday he actually had to read.  He wasn't as pumped about it, but I was happy for him.  He gave a talk in primary and did a really good job of speaking clearly.  He didn't think he would actually do it, because our morning was so difficult.  He has had so much time off in January that he really doesn't want to do anything, but play.  Switching to morning church is great for me, but he doesn't like it, because he can't play.  I am really hoping that we can get some consistency to help with his behavior.

As previously mentioned, I was sick.  I was able to get a couple of naps in the afternoon, which helped.  Other than that is was a survival week.  Here's so a warmer, healthier week!
