Happy Easter!

We'll do the update in reverse this time.  Let's be real...the whole week was dedicated to Easter.  All the excitement and activities pointed to this weekend.  We lucked out with Tim having the week off (more on that later).  The kids actually did a really good job looking at the camera, so we got a couple of good ones after the hunt.

Usually the Easter bunny leaves a treat in the morning, but this year we did a treat after we got home.  We have nine a.m. church, so it was great timing.  The kids were excited to get home and magically the Easter bunny came in the five minutes it took them to get changed and notice the eggs were outside.  Terrible parents that we are, we made the kids eat lunch first, mostly just wanting them to get get some fruits and veggies in before the candy.  They ate in record time and even let Liam get a few eggs before they went at it.  I am happy to report that we didn't have a squirrel problem this year.  The last couple of years the squirrels have attacked some of the eggs before we could get them.

We also colored eggs for the first time.  We just did a few, because Hyrum and I are the only ones who really like hard boiled eggs.  They had fun doing it.  Lila helped me make some no bake nests with Cadbury eggs.  She had fun putting in the eggs.

We enjoyed the Easter program at church.  Well I did.  I'm a sap and they ended up performing a couple of my favorite songs.  Lila saw my tears during church and started wiping my eyes for me.  The kids haven't quite figured out yet that I tend to cry during songs and movies.  The kids were all very excited in primary, but not as crazy as I was expecting.  There were several community egg hunts and one in our neighborhood.  The kids had a hunt and egg decorating party on Wednesday that they really enjoyed.

Monday and Tuesday were pretty straight forward days.  Hyrum is still having trouble with school, but it wasn't as bad as the previous week.  I am sure this will continue until the end of school.  As long as we don't have melt downs I'm good.  Tim was on "nighcation" this week.  He starts nights on Tuesday night.  It was nice to have him home to be in on some of the action.  He didn't realize it, but they switched his clinic from Friday to Thursday.  He usually has Friday clinic.  It worked out perfectly with Hyrum having Friday off.

Tim discovered a new park that we wanted to try, so we loaded the kids up and drove to explore.  It ended up being cooler than we thought, so we didn't last more than a couple of hours.  The kids had fun on the playground, running around the pond, and playing in a stick structure.

Liam discovered geese and Tim rediscovered that geese hiss and attack.  No injuries occurred, just another moment in a toddler's life of exploration.

Hyrum has really made some progress with swimming.  I have been shocked how confident he is getting.  Lila is struggling to put her head down.  The instructor keeps saying that she is a good swimmer, but because she isn't looking down she stays more vertical than horizontal in the water.

While Hyrum has had some major behavior issues with school, I feel like we had some wins.  He is getting better at listening to instructions.  He comes inside when asked instead of completely ignoring me.  He is getting really good at taking his own shower and despite how much of a fight he puts up with school, he pretty much gets himself up and ready for school in the morning.

Lila has officially moved to the big girl bed at night.  She has done really well with staying in bed.  Maybe it's because she is older than Hyrum when we moved him over, but she hasn't come out like Hyrum.  With the new freedom she is learning to be quiet in the mornings.  She is pretty independent, but Hyrum has been helping her with breakfast, which is a bit scary with the milk.  But, he cleans up his mess and then tells us, so we can go back and wipe again.  She has also gotten into clips.  If she disappears upstairs and it's quiet for more than three minutes she can usually be found in the bathroom loading up her hair with clips.  I'm not sure how she gets them all in, but she she does.  She has also been enjoying playing in the sand.  This week she practice her castle making skills.

Liam had a growth and verbal growth spurt.  He seems to be trying to make up for all the times he was spitting up his food during the first 12 months.  He has also started saying more words.  It always seems like when he is going through a word spurt he sleeps less, because he is practicing sounds when he should be sleeping.  He also started having tantrums.  It was about this age that Hyrum started having extreme tantrums.  During one of these episodes, Hyrum happened to be around.  He questioned what was wrong with Liam and we had an eye opening conversation about emotions and that's how he looks when he has a tantrum.

We ended the day with an Easter dinner with neighbors.  There were several families that got together to have dinner and let the kids play.  It was nice seeing everyone, but sad because most of the families will be moving in the next couple of months.  So it goes with wards who are filled with families passing through.

Until next week!
