Halloween Fever!

I can't believe October is almost over and Halloween is so close.  The kids have been talking about what they want to be and we went hunting.  Hyrum insisted he wanted to be Pikachu, which was very difficult to find.  Lila wanted to be a princess with a red dress and Liam has no idea what's going on.  After looking in the store I decided to shop online.  We managed to find Pikachu for Hyrum, Lila saw Snow White and decided that's the one, and Liam gets to be a dog.  Chase from Paw Patrol to be exact.  They all look cute and are over the moon happy.  The only downside is our house has turned into a sparkly fairyland.  Lila's costume is shedding like crazy no mater how much I shake it.  Hyrum has declared he doesn't like it and by the end of the week put his costume up, so it would stop getting glitter on it.  You can always tell where she's been, by following the glitter trail.

Besides costumes, we have started doing Halloween art.  This week we made ghosts, bats, and a witch.  Hyrum didn't want to make a witch, but Lila was very pleased with her witch.  This coming week is Fall break for us, but we will be making some shape monsters and Halloween cookies.

Hyrum and Lila have spent several hours outside playing each day this week.  We have had some really nice weather and I am milking it for all its worth before it gets damp and cold.  They have enjoying running around with other kids and less bugs...though they are still out.

Hyrum is discovering a love of multiplication and division.  He is doing the foundation now, so very basic work, but he enjoys working his numbers to solve problems.  He continues to do well in all other areas and I can see a major improvement in academics and attitude towards school, which is a huge blessing compared to what we were dealing with last year.

Lila enjoys her preschool time...as short as it is.  She is really getting into drawing.  This week she made a rocket ship for me and today she came in declaring I needed to see her ballerina, which was actually pretty good, a little abstract, but I could tell what I was.  Our potty training saga continues.  She's mostly day trained, but we have had lots of really big accidents over the last several weeks and she isn't even close to night trained.  I have come to the conclusion that one of her problems at night is that she is such a deep sleeper.  She is never happy to be woken up and is very difficult to even wake up.  Case and point.  Tim went to go get her one night and ended up walking with her up the stairs like this.

She didn't move a muscle, open her eyes, or acknowledge that she was being moved.  This is very reminiscent of when she was a baby.  She slept for about 24 after she was born and then we spent about two months trying to get her to wake up enough to eat.  She gave us the stink eye a lot when we were trying to get her to wake up.  She was a sleepy baby!

Liam is talking up a storm.  He is jumping like crazy, unfortunately he has taken to jumping off the couch, which has never been okay.  He is also learning to be gentle.  He has picked up some hitting and kicking from siblings and neighbors that is really hard to break, because he is so young.  Mostly he is a cutie and doesn't want to be left out of any of the action.  Oh, and he is addicted to bubbles.  I spent a lot of time blowing bubbles for him and he is frequently the only one in nursery dancing in the glory of the bubbles from the bubble machine.

Tim had a busy sports week.  High school foot ball is coming to a close and so will his Saturday injury clinic for high school.  UNC soccer and foot ball has about another month or so plus tournaments/playoffs.  We are all counting down the days.  UNC had a later football game on Saturday, which means he gets how around 1 am.  They may all be smiling, but the bottom picture was probably taken around 11 pm after UNC won.

That's about all from us!
