Summer Fun!

We had a busy week...it feel like most weeks are busy these days.  The weather was nice, so we spent lots of time outside playing and taking walks.  The kids are trying to soak up as much friend time as they can because our time is so short.

We'll start off with Owen.  He had his first stroller ride.  I needed a walk, so the kids and I went out.  Owen is usually in the carrier, but this time he rode and seemed very relaxed.  I think most of our kids have used the cupholder as a foot rest.  I think it's super cute.  He is getting really good a laughing.  He is full of smiles and reacts well.  I think we are through the four month sleep regression, so he is back to sleeping in about four hour chunks at night.  At the beginning of the week he had several days where he was talking longer naps, but that didn't last.  He actually fell asleep in the van, which never happens.  It gave me hope, but that hope was short lived, because by the end of the week he was back to 30 naps all the time.

I have been utilizing shows in the late afternoon to occupy the kids while I am scrambling to get dinner together or finish up a project.  On one such day, Hyrum invited the neighborhood kids over to watch shows.  We are still working on asking permission first.  They all squeezed on the couch and watched some shows.  I figured we needed to get as much friend time in as we can, because our time is short.

Hyrum has had his ups and downs this week.  Sometimes he is so helpful and imaginative, for instance he was coaching the younger kids through exercises to help them be healthier.  Other times he's just a mess.  I think we will all be grateful to get back into a routine and have some consistency.  Hyrum enjoyed reading, legos, swimming, a water party, making his own lunch, and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember, because I can't remember anything these days.

Liam and I had a shopping date this week.  Hyrum and Lila had a playdate with some friends, so we went to the store together.  It so happened that there was some construction next to the store and he had a blast watching them work.  It's so fun to see his imagination take off.  After this experience he spent the rest of the week pretending to get in his machines to work.  He still gets the short end of the stick when it comes to playing outside.  I can't just get out with him, because of calls or packing.  He is going to love the fence.

The kids enjoyed having a water party with the neighborhood kids.  They turned on the sprinklers and were very loud.  Lila was in heaven.  Any time she can get her hands in something, she is happy.  She enjoyed playing with friends, swimming, helping to make dad's father's day dinner.  She is becoming more opinionated about her hair and is requesting different styles.  I have never been one to really do much with my hair, so it's always an adventure.

Friday evening we went to sports medicine department gathering.  There were lots of people there.  It was nice to meet some of the people Tim has been talking about.  The older three enjoyed playing outside and catching lightning bugs.  It was Liam's first time seeing them and there is just something magical about a bug with a light on its bum.

Saturday we went swimming for the last time at the of a ward member.  We have been coming here since we moved into the ward and the kids love going.  Lila discovered the diving board and spent most of her time jumping and Liam did great with kicking.  I was holding Owen who decided to empty the contents of his stomach.  Tonight we went to spend some time with friends to let the kids play.  It was nice to just chat with adults and really say goodbye.

Tim continues to work hard.  He went in on a morning he had off to do some procedures that he hasn't been able to do.  He really enjoyed it and hopes that he will be able to do these once we are in Arkansas.  There are some logistics that have to be worked out, but he really wants to see if he can do these procedures regularly.

I was able to get leasing, utilities, and meal preps done this week.  This coming week will be busy as we have Owen's four month appointment that we are going to fit in and then I will be boxing up the kitchen and everything else.  It's crazy that this is the last week.  This will be my last post for several weeks as we are moving and getting things set up.  Shortly after we get to Fort Smith, Tim's family has a reunion that we will be going to, so we will be on the road a lot.  Until then!
