Jumping in the Rain!

We had another busy week of ups and downs, periods of fighting and periods of peace.  The kids are doing really well in school.  We finished our first six weeks of school.  Tomorrow we will pick things up with Hyrum and Lila and move a faster.  I also randomly decided to actually do Liam school.  It's super simple...like two minutes of letters and counting.

Hyrum enjoyed plenty of reading this week.  We managed to make it to the library twice this week.  We are trying to attend a story time other families from church and some homeschoolers.  We made it to our normal library as well.  He came home with a stack of books.  I always love it when we come home from the library.  It's usually really peaceful and the kids are looking at all of their new books.  He also worked on his flipping skills on the trampoline.  He is learning that some things just take time to improve.

Lila continues to surprise me.  She has started writing out words and sentences phonetically.  She is doing really well in math as well.  Her handwriting skills are much better than Hyrum's ever were at this age.  She's a good helper around the house, when she isn't throwing herself on the floor like a true thespian yelling, "Why?!"  We have also given her more freedom with Owen.  She loves getting him dressed and picking him up and moving his from place to place.

Owen had quite the week.  He was sick from the first part of the week, which meant lots of night wakings.  He started babbling more and rolling like a crazy person.  He's has figured out that if he moves he can get something.  The kids have to extra careful leaving books and toys on the floor, because there is no stopping him.  He started getting up on all fours last week, and this week he started moving his knees.  He doesn't get anywhere, but he's getting the motion down.  He loves to roll over to the couch and pick at the felt under it.  Super annoying and he usually squeals when I move him.  I personally think he knows he's not supposed to be there and he thinks it's funny that he got caught.

We had lots of rain this week, so we had some hard days.  On a good day, we made it to the park twice.  In a pinch we go to the one in walking distance of our house.  We checked off a new park on our list, which the kids loved.  Liam is getting really good at getting up on higher slides and climbing.  Liam has hit the "three"nager stage a little early.  I think he is probably our most difficult three year old.  He is very strong-willed and has picked up things from older brother.  It also doesn't help that he is in and out of his bed all night.  He wakes up several times during the week and struggles to go back to bed for an hour or so.  Super frustrating!  He is also learning to stay away from anthills.  We have lots of fire ant hills in the yard.  After his third time playing in the hills and getting stung really bad, we made a trip to the garden store to get ant killer.  It's the darndest thing to have a kid that no mater how miserable he gets, keeps playing with fire...literally.  You'd think he would learn his lesson, but daily I have to remind him to stay away from the ants.

Arkansas gets some good rain.  At dinner one night this week it started to rain really hard.  Tim told the kids they could go out and jump and they were very excited.  They finished dinner in record time and had a lot of fun getting soaked.

Tim had some late meetings this week, so I was solo for a couple of nights.  He also had his first activity days.  It was an eye opening experience.  He also had an elder's quorum activity that was about as manly as you can get...shooting guns and eating meat.  All the boys got haircuts and I managed to get a haircut as well.  I also had a baby shower that I went to one evening.  We are ready for fall and excited for General Conference this coming week.  Until next week!
