Nothing super exciting happened this week. I would say it was one of our most basic weeks, which is going to make this a short and sweet post.
The kids are in full summer mode. We finished up piano lessons for the semester. I think I mentioned this before, but I'm trying to cut back on as much as possible this summer. I feel like all we have done is run around, so we are taking breaks from pretty much everything. This coming week Hyrum will finish up a class that he has been taking for the last six months. That will be the last thing to finish and then we will have a lot more free time on our hands.
We just need the weather to cooperate. We have had nonstop rain since April it feels like. It makes it difficult for the kids to get outside and play. We had quite a bit of rain this last week and this coming week we are expecting rain for the first half of the week. Some how the plants are mostly surviving. I think I have only had to water then once since I planted everything back at the beginning of April.
We had our first tornado warning of our time in Fort Smith. We knew we were expecting severe weather, so we were keeping an eye on things. Tim found me and said that he thought he heard the sirens go. I stuck my head outside to listen, but didn't hear anything. I started checking local weather and has I was doing that I heard he sirens again. Most of the kids were asleep, so they got to come hang out in our closets for a bit. This was Tim and the kids' first warning. There were a lot of nerves, but prayers were said and mom watch the skies and everything was fine. Tim reminded me that it was this same time last year that the tornado hit Bentonville. I guess Memorial day week is the sweet spot for tornados around here.
We had one small tornado touch down within our ward boundaries. There was damage to homes in that area, but for the most part they lucked out. Part of our fence finally gave out. The whole thing needs to be replaced, but they keep patching everything instead of just fixing it.
Hyrum's big accomplishment this week was solving his rubix cube. He worked really hard on it and has figured it out. Lila continues to improve on her reading skills. She also learned how to cook an egg by herself on the stove. Liam is finding a joy is coloring and drawing. He's made some fun pictures recently and has also started writing his name on everything. Owen is a doll! He loves to sing random things and to imitate sounds of machines...vacuums, mowers, blowers, weed eaters. His newest thing is to use the blocks at the library to build a blower and proceed to move all the chairs and clean everything out. We have the cleanest library in the south!
Until next week!
