We had a successful week of school. The kids were excited to be on their first break and I am excited as well. They are excited, because they don't have to get up and get dressed for school. They can play again. I'm just ready for a break. I was working on scheduling and compared to when we started to when we typically start. We are about mid way through October, which is crazy to think about. They are all doing great and I have even seen some fun things happening with Owen. He likes to sit at the table and color while the kids are doing their work. He also really likes to sit now to be read to. It wasn't too long ago that I couldn't get him to sit for anything. He also is learning to sing the ABCs because of washing his hands and he just started counting to ten. It's fun to see how the younger kids just pick things up as they watch the older kids.
The garden might be getting a second wind. There is plenty of dead leaves and vines. I don't think I am quite ready to give up yet. I was out collecting some tomatoes and say this. giant green spider. If my google search is correct it's name is a Lynx spider. Apparently, it likes to chase it's prey instead of building a web to catch bugs. Sleep well with that little bit of knowledge.
We have interesting wildlife living on our garden. We have a blue tailed lizard that has moved in as well. The kids like finding him.
We have been slowing chipping away at our summer list. I feel like we were really slow getting started because we had an insane amount of rain at the beginning of summer. The kids wanted to try out a park that had a little train and mini golf with a play area. We play their frequently, but the train usually isn't running and you have to wait for the weekend of the mini golf to open. We went on the train, which all the kids enjoyed. Owen covered his ears the whole time, but he makes reference to the train all the time now, so I think he had fun. We played at the playground and then went home. Tim took the older kids back to play mini golf. They had a blast. Tim said it was more of a free for all than really playing. I guess all the really matter is they had lots of fun..
We are officially on break for the next week. Tim has Monday off, so we are going to try to tick off our last thing for summer. I don't know if we will be able to do a hike to a waterfall, because the weather decided to change and say it was going to rain. We are also going to do a small trip this coming weekend to Hot Springs. They have a dinosaur museum and alligator petting zoo that we are going to take the kids too. We've been getting lots of dino books from the library and learning about them in school. It's supposed to be a really pretty area of Arkansas, so it should be fun.
Until next week!
