Happy Easter!

It was another busy week for us.  There was a lot of anticipation for Easter this year.  Somehow, we made it through with the kids not figuring out who the Easter bunny is.  It's got to be something about the magic of it all, because I felt sure Hyrum would figure it out after watching the adults hide eggs for our ward Easter party.

We tried really hard this year to focus on the true meaning of Easter.  We played lots of what Lila called Easter music and spent time every day talking about what Jesus was doing on that day.  I think we will continue to make adjustments.  One thing for sure that will be changing is we will be switching the Easter bunny to Saturday.  We had a rough finish to the day and between the hype for the bunny and all the sugar there were plenty of emotions at our house.  We still have to figure it out, but the bunny may be leaving coins instead of candy.  It'd probably end up being about the same cost and we won't have to deal with all the sugar issues later.

I guess I'm updating in reverse, so I'll start with the weekend.  Saturday was busy with a move that Tim and Hyrum went to help with.  We met at the church later for the Easter party.  The kids had fun running around finding eggs.  Hyrum enjoyed hunting with his friends.  Lila played a little with the girls and Liam just ate all his candy.  That afternoon we went to an open house for a home that just came on the market.  It was nice and had a lot of what we are looking for, but it's not the one.

Sunday was a mix of emotions.  The excitement for the Easter bunny caused a lot of extra emotions.  Sunday services were very nice, aside from the fact that I ended up on the stand with Hyrum due to some poor choices during the primary songs.  The kids got their candy and we had a tasty meal.  The rolls turned out nice.  I made hot cross buns the day before and they ended up more like hot cross rocks.  I was a little worried about the rolls for dinner.  I think I just killed the yeast for the buns, so the dough didn't rise.

Owen slept through most of the action.  He's been working on his last molar for a week or so and not sleeping the greatest at night or for naps.  He's so interesting because his gums look bruised before the tooth comes in. I'm sure it hurts.  Books are really become a favorite for him.  The more kids we have the harder it is to keep the library books safe.  We've had a couple of book injuries due to not being put away.  Probably the most exciting development for him is that he started standing up on his own.  It's just for a second or two, but it's a step in the right direction...literally.  He's never really show an interest in walking and now he thinks it's a fun game.

The beginning of the week was filled with school.  It was our last week before spring break.  We are doing it a little later, because it worked better with our schedule.  I am finding the benefit of taking breaks at different times than public school.  We were able to spend time with friends during public school breaks and when we take our breaks we have the benefit of not dealing regular crowds.  We have yet to plan a trip, but I'm told homeschooling is be the best for traveling.

Lila got a haircut and chopped about six inches off.  Her hair is so much healthier and easier to brush.  The kids are excited to start swim lessons in April.  I found a place the has daytime lessons and they will do all the kids at the same time.  Another perk to homeschooling is we can fit activities in during the day, so our evenings stay more open. Hyrum went to a baptism with Tim on Friday and then helped set up tables for the Easter activity.

Tim stayed busy with church stuff almost every evening this week.  I held down the fort balancing everything and somehow we made it the Sunday!

Here's to spring break!
