The End of September!

I can't believe we have already finished the first seven weeks of school.  The kids have made so much progress and I love that we are in our routine.  I think Lila said it best when she successfully read some instruction in one of her curriculum books, "Mom, school really does work!"  Lila really is doing so well and the world is starting to open up has she gains confidence in reading.

The kids had a dental appointment this week and all is well.  I'm always grateful when we don't have cavities, which means extra appointments.  Though I love our dentist, because they have a family room where all the kids sit and get their teeth done at the same time.  Owen also had his 18 month appointment.  He was given a clean bill of health and we really aren't concerned about his walking any more.  He seems to have worked out whatever kinks there were.

We had another homeschool field trip this week.  The kids toured the community theater in Fort Smith.  It was a really nice facility and the ladies that showed us around did a wonderful job.  There was a big group of kids.

They got to see the costumes and props, as well as where they make their sets.  Hyrum asked how much they make and the lady responded with just enough to keep the doors open the next year.  It was crazy that everyone was a volunteer.  No one gets paid and Hyrum didn't really like that.

Lila and Hyrum both had their activities this week.  Hyrum also had sparring this week, which makes it extra busy with another day of practice.  I'm glad he loves it and that we are only five minutes away.  Lila loves her dance and I think the switch was a good thing, because it's more of what she wanted.  Piano continues to go well.  I feel like the kids are getting better and hanging out.  We are finding a rhythm to stay entertained.  We always go everywhere together whether they want to or not and sometimes it hard waiting.

I went over to a friend's house for a little fall get together.  The kids were all jealous that I had a mom party and wanted to have a kids party.  It's a kid party every day!  We didn't have any meetings today at church, which doesn't' happen very often.  We are all excited for General Conference.  The kids are probably more excited for pizza and monkey bread, but that's okay.  Some day they might enjoy actually listening.

Until next week!
