Camping and Girl's Night!

Another week has passed with lots happening.  We had a short school week as we had fall break.  The kids we excited...well kind of.  Lila kept saying that she just wanted to do school.  I'm glad she feels that way, but mama needed a break, so the books stayed closed.

We kicked off the fall break with a playdate.  I dropped off Hyrum and brought home some of their children to play with mine that stayed home.  It was a great swap and everyone was very happy.  Hyrum also had activity days, which is always fun for him.

Thursday the kids just played all day.  One thing homeschool has really developed is their play.  The kids know how to play and play hard.  I went to a baby shower in the evening after Hyrum's martial arts class.

We had a big weekend planned.  Originally, Tim was going to take Hyrum and Liam on a camping trip with some other families in the ward.  Hyrum had a conflict, so he couldn't go, which was really sad.  We spent Friday morning gathering everything for Tim and Liam to talk with them.  We also fit in some apple gathering.  Someone in our stake gives away apples, so we went to got a lot of apples to turn into sauce.  Tim came home a little early and he and Liam left on their grand adventure (more on that later).

After they left Lila and I got cracking on apples.  It was actually pretty slick and it didn't require much time though it takes time for the apples to soften.  We were able to get one batch done before dinner.  We ate an early quick dinner, because Hyrum had testing to advance in martial arts.  He's been waiting for this forever.  He was so excited to be able to learn the next moves.

Owen was very ready to go to bed when we got home.  Lila and I had a girls night, plus Hyrum.  We ate raspberries and smores while watching Frozen 2.  It was a successful night...we both cried.  I snapped this picture of Hyrum not watching Frozen.  He hated the fact that it was a girl movie, but he just couldn't resist.  I asked him how the movie was and he said that the first one was better.  I just had to laugh.

They also wanted to sleep in the front room, so they kicked me out and crashed on their cushions.  We had some friends come over Saturday morning to play, so their mom could study for some medical school exams.

Tim and Liam came back Saturday afternoon.  I'm pretty sure Liam would have stayed in the wild if we let him.  It was quite the experience.  He got to dig in the dirt to his heart's content, when out on a boat to set a trot line, went back to get the fish they caught on the line, reeled in his first fish, played with fire, pottied in the deepest pit that you'd never get out of if you went in, drank way to much juice, and ate tons of food including squirrel.  He was filthy and so happy.

Oh, and he also snuck sticks into the car to bring home because we don't have very many sticks at our house.

Sunday was busy, but not busy.  Tim was in charge at church, so Liam sat with him on the stand.  I ended up in the hall and later a classroom while Owen screamed the entire hour for Tim.  That was super awesome.  I also ended up subbing in primary last minute, which was fun.  I love teaching the younger kids they are just so funny.  One little girl prayed that we would have a dandelion day.  It was hilarious.  We didn't have any meetings afterwards, so we attempted a fall drive.  We don't really have much color change here, so it was a bit disappointing.

We have a few fun things next week planned, which will keep us busy and entertained!  Until then!
