It's been two weeks of lots happening. I always struggle to remember the day to day things, but I will certainly give you the highlights. Let's face it...those are what you come for. We managed to get to the touch a truck event. We went last year with Aunt Holly and the kids had a blast. This year was just as fun. I wasn't sure we would be able to make. The van had some random starting issues. We took it in to a mechanic who couldn't figure it out. We haven't had any issues since thankfully. We drove up to the event. We were smart this year to start with the trucks. The kids got to climb, pretend, pick up treats, honk horns and have a blast. We ended with going down the goody row to the hotdogs. I noticed the sky was getting dark. A storm blew in quickly and the wind knocked down all the tents over. We went to the van to finish eating lunch out of the rain. It was a memorable, fun time!
Shortly after that we headed to visit my parents. The kids enjoyed lots of tasty food, wrestling, riding, playing games, sweating outside, and making fun memories. I think Owen had the most fun, or memorable time. Grandpa made all his dreams come true with experiencing heavy machinery.
Tim ended up making a trip down to Port Neches to be with his parents and stay for a week. We stayed busy while he was away trying to enjoy our last week before school started. We made it to a splash pad and the kids had a lot of fun being wet. It was Owen's first experience. He was a little hesitant at first, but by the end was was running and zooming around.
We had a playdate with some friends and went to a snow cone place for a treat. The kids had never experienced it before and it was a hit. Well, everyone loved it but Owen. He wasn't too crazy about it and didn't have much.
Tim made it home in time for Hyrum's tournament. It was a busy day. The kids enjoyed watching all the older adults kick and use weapons. Hyrum did well. We had a meltdown after the first event. Miraculously, he was able to pull it together to participate in the rest of the events. He as happy at the end.
We went out to a Mexican place to celebrate Tim's birthday. We also had a peanut butter pie as a dessert. Tomorrow starts the beginning of our school year. It will be interesting to get started so early. It is probably the most relaxed I have ever been starting school. It's also the first year that all the kids old enough for school aren't using curriculum I have created. It's weird, but nice to not have a so much to do.
Here's to a new school year!
