Gymnastics and a Cow!

We had a busy week this week with all the little things.  We are in full swing with all the regular activities.  It means that we have something pretty much every day of the week.  We won't dwell on the weather, because all that needs to be said is that it's miserably hot.

We started off the week with Lila's gymnastics class.  She said she really liked it and she seemed to have fun.  It's very new for her, so I imagine that it will take some time for her to get into the rhythm of how gymnastics works.  One thing I noticed is that she was extremely distracted.  There were several other classes going, especially older girls.  She would be on the beam and just stop or fall off because she was too busy watching other classes and not where she was going.  It was kind of funny to watch.

The kids are in a really good routine.  We switched this week to our fall morning routine.  I have been lax as far as letting them play more and getting a later start to school, because it is still summer.  But, this week we transitioned to getting started earlier.  They are doing a really good job of getting ready.  We have our moments of fussing, but the kids are doing their part in school and learning a lot.  I do love to see them moving forward!

We had some pretty intense fort building this week.  If you look up Bluey and Bingo build a fort and see their intense setup that's kind of what it was like.  They pulled out every cushion, pillow and blanket we own.  The family room disappeared and because their fort.  They played nicely and it was a way to beat the heat.

The other big thing this week was picking up our cow.  It was a good thing we only got half and very small cow, because our freezer if full!  The kids were excited to go and pick it up and they did great helping to load everything in the van and then unloading.  It brought out some interesting conversations of how the cow is killed and cut apart.

Saturday was a busy day.  Tim took the kids to a local park, while I did a big grocery run.  They were all hot and tired by the end.  We took the kids in the afternoon to use some of their rewards from the summer reading program.  We don't go out to eat very often and we were shocked at how expensive basic things like a drink and fries were.  You'd go broke eating out regularly!

That's it for us.  We have another week of extremely high heat, hopefully the kids can find something to keep the fighting at bay!
