This was the week...

You may be wondering about the title of this week's post and here is the explanation.  In summers past since I graduated it has never taken long for me to get bored.  Typically by the end of June I am ready for school to start again.  This summer has been different.  Between studying, traveling, and work I have not felt bored...quite the opposite.  This was the week that changed it.  They banned teachers from the school because  of cleaning the floors, so I was unable to keep myself busy at home, which led to boredom.  Hence, this was the week that changed my readiness level for school to begin.  I am getting pumped for a new group of students.  We will start testing in just a couple of weeks, so the wait is short.

I spent the week working on classwork.  It is hard to believe this one is almost over.  There is two more weeks left and then I will have a short break before the fall semester begins.  I am very excited to be done with my masters.  I am not sure what I will do with all my extra time...maybe read a book that doesn't have to do with teaching, or better yet, I can run on a regular basis again.

The end of the week was a bit busier because our Stake had an activity in which ward co-chairs (that's me) were asked to help.  So, on Thursday night I helped for a couple of hours cleaning cilantro.  I am pretty sure I cut and cleaned a forest of it, because there was so much!  To cut back on costs the Stake made most of the food.  On Friday, I made 40 cups of uncooked rice, which equals a lot of cooked rice.  It was pretty much a miracle that I was able to make it because there are three things that Whitney can't cook without ruining it: french toast, grilled cheese, and rice.  I almost burned two big pots, but managed to save it before anything terrible happened.  I also learned that you can cook rice in the oven and it works really well.  Friday stayed very busy with that.

Tim and I managed to fit in a movie and some quality time without sports.  All of his inter-mural games are over, so our evening are not filled with as much physical activity.  Well, he did most of the physical activity, I just clapped.  We also went to see some mutual friends (they are married) that were in town for a wedding.  It was nice to catch up and see other friends that I hadn't seen in a while.  It is always sad at the end of semesters, because people leave.  Another one of our friends is leaving on Monday to attend Duke University for grad school.  We spent some time with him on Saturday night saying goodbye and wishing him luck.

This coming week, Brian and I head to Kansas to see family.  I haven't been to Kansas in many years...so I am very excited to see the grandparents and the beautiful mid-west.

Oh...I almost forgot.  I chopped off my hair.  That was a pretty big thing.  I cut off about six inches.  That was the longest my hair had been in many years.  In the end it was too much work, so I decided to go back to short.  If you look at the picture it did come down to the middle of my shoulder blades, but obviously not any more.
