Houston Bound!

The cat is officially out of the bag.  Tim was accepted to the Houston Medical school a week ago and in about two weeks we will be moving to humid Texas.  It was a crazy week for us.  Tim went in for a half day of work on Monday and basically quit.  We had about a week to complete everything that we needed too and that week was short because of the holiday.  We spent most of the day looking into insurance, apartments, and Tim needed to begin his completing the list for his entrance to medical school.  We worked late into the night and got a good start.

Tuesday was an emotional day for me.  I told my boss and co-workers that I would not be returning to school next year.  It was hard and I shed a lot of tears, because I have learned so much from them as a teacher and as a person.  We spent a lot of time Tuesday  packing and moving things out of my classroom.  It was like packing another house.  After we got it all home I went through it all again and trashed a bunch of stuff.  It is amazing how much one collects over the years.  This is a picture of what our apartment looked like by the end of Wednesday.  It doesn't include the 10 boxes of books and files under our bed.

Thursday was a big day for us.  With a lot of help from mom we were able to locate an apartment in our price range and distance from school.  We sent in our application and are hoping to hear from them on Monday if we were accepted.  If not we will be back to square one.  Tim also finished most of his list of things to do like immunizations, purchasing a laptop, and background checks.  We also made some more rounds to say good-bye to people.  We were heading home from a get together and happened upon this beauty on a huge billboard.  Recognize the tall guy in the back row in the middle.  He's FAMOUS!

By Friday things slowed down drastically.  Businesses were closed and we were limited on what we could do.  I packed a few more things that we would not need in the near future and we both fit in a little reading time.  Saturday, Tim played soccer and then we went to the parade.  We finalized plans to visit Kansas and grandparents next week and went to the half off sale at Kneaders.

This week has been filled with blessings.  I am not only grateful to live in a free country (even if it doesn't seen like it sometimes) and for all the blessings we have had with Tim getting accepted.  There were so many things that just worked out this week that made planning of 1,500 mile move a lot easier.  Hopefully we will have a place to stay in Texas next week and all that is left is for me to find a job and we will be set.

Until next week!
