Monday started at 5 a.m. We left Provo bright and early so we could make it in one day to Topeka. Because of everything that happened two weeks ago now, we had to make the trip a lot shorter than we wanted to. We made it in one piece without any problems. We spent a couple of hours talking with grandma Langdon, until our eyes started to droop. We woke the next day and spent most of the day talking about life and learning about grandpa and stories from before my time. :) We also went to the cemetery where grandpa and great grandma rest. Uncle Mike shared a lot of stories and history about family as they moved into the Topeka area.
After dinner we loaded up the car and headed to Paolo...well sort of. After two complete circles, one wrong turn, one state trooper, one illegal U-turn, two frantic calls to parents, one call to grandpa, and 45 minutes later we were heading on the correct road. We pulled in a little later than we had wanted, but we arrived.
We had a lot of fun chatting with grandma and grandpa Kluber. We took a tour of his woodwork. Tim liked to look at all of his projects and he also liked grandma's perfume bottles...but who doesn't! We woke up early again the following day and left for Provo. We were able to watch and Kansas sunrise. This picture doesn't do it justice at all. I love the mountains, but you can't see a sunrise or a sunset.
Tim got to work on looking for car insurance and a washer and dryer. We found a decent set for $100 that will hopefully last us for a few years. Mom is doing well...in pain, but doing well. I will spend the rest of the week here in Cedar and on Friday I will drive back to Provo to load up the car on the car on the back of the U-Haul and we will leave early (see a pattern?) Saturday to drive part of the distance. We will be stopping and staying with one of Tim's brothers for Sunday and yep you guessed it, we will leave early Monday morning to drive the final 8 hours to Houston.
I probably will not be able to update the blog next week, but I will be sure to post pictures of the apartment and Houston.
