An water filled week!

This week marked the official 40 week mark for me.  Tim was hoping for a very exciting blog post, but we have to settle for an exciting post.  We had heard all last week that we might be in for some rain.  Being from the mid-west, I didn't think too much of it.  Sunday and Sunday night, it began to rain and it rained really hard.  We woke up like normal on Monday and got ready to leave.  It was raining really hard.  We always tell ourselves to make sure we bring in the umbrella in case it rains...but we never do.

Tim was a champ and braved the rain and brought the car closer to our apartment.

We didn't get very far, because when we got to our gate we found this.  Water had flooded our street and silly me never thought to consider that there would be a problem getting out.  So, Tim carefully backed up and we went inside to begin our stay at home day.

Throughout the day we would check to see how the water was around our complex.  On on of our outings we found this.

Tim waded out to see if there was any one in the car, but they had already made it out.  Our take-away for the day was to always check our email before we leave on bad rain days.  I received an email early in the morning saying that I could work from home and Tim's classes were canceled, because many of the professors couldn't get to school.  There was a lot of damage done in other parts of Houston, but we were very lucky that we didn't have too much of an issue.  I do feel bad for some individuals, because they had just finished fixing their homes from the Memorial Day flood last year and many of them are back to square one!

There was a concern for the rest of the week about continued flooding, not because it would rain hard, but that all the canals were filled to capacity and any amount of rain would cause flooding.  We are expecting more rain this coming week, so hopefully the water had gone down enough for a new batch of water to go!

We spent the rest of the week in our routine.  I worked hard at work to complete as much as I could before leaving.  Tim studied hard and tried to get ahead, because he has a week until his end of year exams.  All the while expecting a baby to come.

Obviously, he chose not to come this week, so I am scheduled to be induced on Monday...providing there is room in the inn.  As of right now there isn't, so I am on standby until otherwise told.

Mom came in on Saturday to help with the baby.  It will be nice to have an extra pair of hands around to help with the day to day things, so Tim doesn't have to worry about that as much and can focus on studying...when he isn't holding a baby.  Next week we should have pictures of the baby!

On a final note.  Tim wanted to make sure this was included in the post.  We do a lot of work with Burmese investigators with teaching the gospel and English.  One of the sisters wanted to show her appreciation so she got me these sandals.  They are Burmese sandals, with Burmese writing on them and everything.  Tim likes them a lot.  They are kind of snug...because they don't make sizes for big, white women.  But, they are fun and I like them.

Hope all is well with you and next week we should be able to show off the newest member of the Zimmerman/Kluber family!
