Adventure week!

It was a busy adventurous week at the Zimmerman house.  We started off with scones...the English kind.  I have been finding a lot of scone recipes and I decided to try one finally.  It was really easy and really tasty.  These are strawberry.

We also went to a BBQ with some friends.  We were the only English speaking ones there so it make conversing a little difficult.  One of the people gave us a traditional Japanese treat had when you have a baby boy.  I guess on the symbols for a boy is the carp.  They are supposed to be strong because they have to swim upstream.  Apparently, they have a special celebration for boys and girls every year.  They weren't too bad...they had red bean paste in the middle.

Hyrum finally fits is a bathrobe that one of our friends gave us.  I think he makes an adorable little shark!

And drum roll...someone is three months old...and it isn't Tim or myself.  Basically he is huge, no longer looks like a newborn, has a huge head, a rockin' mullet, and is very loud when he likes to talk.  He has started grabbing at toys and figured out how to take his soccer ball from his feet to his hands, so he can lick it.

After working Monday and Tuesday from home, we left for Kansas.  Hyrum was a champ traveling.  He only fussed when he was hungry or needed a diaper change.  Both days we were driving the last 20 minutes he would scream.  I was very grateful it only lasted for 20 minutes, because my head hurt.

We made it to Kansas City just in time for rush hour.  We weren't too happy about that, but it wasn't anything like Houston.  Unfortunately, I didn't make it out to Wilson to see Erin and the Czech festival.  I ended up taking Tim to the conference on Thursday morning.  It did mean more time with grandparents, which is always an added bonus.  We had a nice visit with everyone and Hyrum was really cute for them with lots of smiles and giggles.

Tim enjoyed the Family Medicine Conference.  He was able to talk with a lot of residencies throughout the U.S.  They were able to give him some helpful tips on what to consider in choosing a place to go and what they will be looking at in a resident.  Here he is heading in!

This is a picture of a small portion of the residency booths.

He cleaned up at he booths.

We were able glad to finally get out of the car on Saturday and get back into a routine.  Tim leaves again next week for Utah.  He brother is getting married, so Hyrum and I will be living it up with just the two of us!  Let's just hope we make it to next week's blog!
