Sick day!

Sorry for the really late post.  It was a hard week for us.  Sickness seems to be haunting us this Fall.  Tim was getting over a cold and Hyrum got another one, more on that later.  There were also some really cool happenings...so it wasn't all depressing.

Monday was Halloween...last Monday that is.  It was a normal day for Tim and I with work and school.  It was Hyrum's last day at the YMCA.  We found a sister in the ward that will continue watching him...we will talk more about that in a little bit.  In the evening we went over to a small gathering of ward members.  They did soup and bread bowels.  The young children went trick-or-treating after dinner.  I was lame this year and didn't plan a costume for Hyrum.  I figured we would do it next year when it might make a little more sense to him.

Tuesday was Hyrum's first day at his new babysitters.  We love Jennifer!  She has been great with helping him take longer naps and be a happy baby...not that he wasn't happy before.  It is also really nice because she lives one building over from us so it take less travel time in the morning and afternoon.  That evening as we were feeding Hyrum, that we found...drum roll please...his first tooth.  He had been agitated the day before and it finally made sense.  I think there may be a second tooth ready to come through, but he doesn't like to open his mouth to let us look.  When the tooth came all the way through he stopped drooling.  It's nice not to have him slobbering everywhere.

The following morning we were getting ready to leave and Hyrum was on his stomach playing.  All of a sudden he pulled himself six inches to grab a toy.  We were both so shocked when it happen, but it was no big deal to Hyrum.  He isn't fast yet, but he will pull himself to get a toy.  He is also working on getting from the sitting position down to his stomach.  A limb or two usually gets stuck and he needs help, but it's coming.

We thought we were on the mend with his sleeping, his tooth was keeping him up, but by Friday he was getting a cold.  We heard him cough a couple of times in the morning.  It got progressively worse, until he was running a low fever, a very running nose, and bad cough.  He stayed home from church and I missed work on Monday.  After visiting the doctor we discovered he had an ear infection as well, so he is on antibiotics for that.  I am crossing my fingers that it does the trick because we haven't slept much and we all need sleep!!  Basically, it is not fun to have a sick baby...enough said.

Hopefully, next week's post will be more optimistic and filled with healthy updates and pictures.
