We had record lows in Houston this week...well I am not sure if they were record, but the fact that we had day time temperatures in the 30's is cause for note. I actually considered breaking out my coat this week...almost. I am not sure Hyrum was bothered much or new what to think about it. Usually, when we go outside he is more concerned with looking around than the temperature.
Tim spent his week getting back into a routine and studying. Things are getting real in medical school! We are T-minus 5 1/2 months until he Step exam. It seems like a long time, but the last year and a half has passed so quickly that June will be here before we know it.
Work was work for me. Nothing really to report other than I have been able to make good progress with all of my teachers. The countdown is on for the end of the year. We have until May to complete all of our projects with them, but they will be leaving for the Summer. January always seems to be a time of planning and counting down to something. It probably comes from being a teacher. This time of year is always hard because of the weather and kids wanting to be done with school. We all want to be done!
Hyrum continues to grow. Our current struggle for him has been to find a pair of shoes that fit, without jamming his feet in. We found one that works...they are too big, but his poor foot isn't scrunched up. He loves to walk around so much that his socks are usually filthy by the end of the day. Hopefully, this will help. He has been waking up again at night. It has been easier to get up with him because I have a day or two of solid 5-6 hours of sleep I am pulling from.
Developmentally his is moving on to pulling himself up. He knows what that movement will get him and he wants it. He struggles to maneuver his feet to a standing position. He has successfully done it in the bathtub by himself, but he needs help everywhere else. He continues to get into everything. He has a set things in the house he goes for. He likes to pull the games down, the smaller albums on the bookshelf, and cans in the kitchen. He moves fast so we have to stay on top of him, because he can pull things down. We had our first bonk this week. He was playing with the wagon and the handle got him on the head. It loosely locks in place, but he is strong enough to pull it down.
I think in the next month or two we will see him pulling himself up successfully. I am not sure about walking, but with as much as he does it with us...who knows. I think we will also have more teeth in. His gums on the top look swollen and tender like teeth are coming in. I wonder if that isn't part of the problem of him waking up at night. But, I never know exactly what is wrong with him...he is a puzzle!
That is all from Texas.
