He's done!

Tim is officially done with year two of medical school.  We both feel relief and excitement that we are on the downhill slide.  Though is does get much more difficult from this point on...I guess it is all about perspective.  He has done very well this year in his classes.  With some of them he felt like he lucked out.  He will continue to study every day like normal, because the next step is STEP.  He will have that at the end of June and then start right into rotations.  He will be doing general surgery first at a hospital that is known for letting students dive in.  The other big news is that he got a calling.  He was asked to meet with a member of the stake presidency, so we had a pretty good idea of what his calling would be.  He is now the ward clerk.  While they are very busy, I think this will work better with medical school.  Now we just need to figure out the Sunday schedule with a little one.

Speaking of the little one.  Pretty sure he has grown again.  His clothes are getting a little more snug all the time.  We always hear comments from others that he is really big.  I know he is big, but when we put him next to others his age it hits home just how much bigger he is.  He is typically 2-3 inches taller than children 3-6 months older then him.  His personality is coming on strong.  He is figuring out how to tease and joke.  He will try to sneak up on us and he laughs if we do silly faces.  Tim and I both like this stage.  He also finally figure out how to stand up on his own.  He has been using the wall and chairs to stand up, but last week he learned how to stand up by himself.   He continues to eat like a champ.  We gave him milk and he gulps it down like it's no big deal.  As well, he continues to talk up a storm.  He is always chattering and communicating something...what, I'm not sure.

This weekend was kind of my weekend.  We celebrated Mother's Day and my birthday.  Since Tim finished up his exams on Friday, he didn't do any studying.  We started off on Saturday with crepes.  Delicious.  After Hyrum's nap, we went swimming.  He enjoyed himself, but the water was a little cold.  I was just happy we were all together dong something other than work, which doesn't happen.

We then went to get ice cream.  Hyrum hasn't had it before, so we gave it to him.  We didn't get a reaction like we did with the cupcake, but I do think he likes it.

We put Hyrum down for a nap and then Tim got started in the kitchen again.  He made pizza all by himself.  One was a stuff crust, and both were yummy.

Sunday night he made chocolate covered peanut butter balls.  Basically, the cat is out of the bag and he needs to start doing some cooking!

The weekend was action packed and wonderful.  I wish we had more weekends like this, but for the next few years we will continue to be busy.  It does make you grateful for those times when you do have the time.

I wanted to end with a fun parenting story.  Recently, Hyrum has been pooping in the bathtub.  Usually, I holler to Tim and he comes and helps clean out the tub, while I take care of cleaning up Hyrum.  Well, on one particular day we were in our routine.  I had Hyrum on the towel and Tim was heading out of the bathroom.  As I looked up I saw something on the floor and called out to Tim, but I was too late.  Tim stepped on some nasty on the floor.  Yuck!  We had a very good laugh, because the whole thing was so funny...gross, but funny!

Have a great week!
