Fall Weather!

It was another busy week for us.  While things have been very different with me being home we seem to stay just as busy.  Monday was a holiday that Tim didn't have to work.  Well, he did a different kind of work.  Houston is still working to clean things up and rebuild.  Tim was out with Mormon Helping Hands clearing out houses.  Hyrum and I were at home.  We played at a local park with a group of other kids.  After nap we went swimming.  He doesn't have much experience swimming and he wasn't as excited as he normally is in water, but we still had fun.

Tuesday Tim went back to school.  Driving has been terrible because many roads are closed because of damage.  He wasn't able to see much of Hyrum this week because he leaves before he wakes up and has been getting home after he is in bed.  Thank goodness he only has about two more weeks of traveling and then he will be in the Med Center.

Tuesday also marked the day that cool weather hit.  It has been BEAUTIFUL!  We are taking full advantage of going outside.  I will admit I have to drag myself outside is the Summer just because it is so hot and humid.  This week we have spent a couple of hours outside playing every day.  On most days Hyrum gets really dirty and has to come in and take a bath.  With it being so humid everything just sticks to him and won't brush off.  It is hard to tell but he has dirt all over his face, hair, and arms.  And on another day we had sand in the diaper!  This weather won't last, but I have read it is because of Irma.  Until then we will open the windows and play outside.

When we come in to cool off and eat Hyrum still spend plenty of time reading and playing.  He has recently start talking to each page like he is reading.  Sometimes he will point to objects and say what they are, but in general he is getting better with handling and staying focused on a story.  He doesn't spend hours reading...at least not yet.  He continues to say words, explore and grow up before our eyes.

Case and point.  He decided that he wanted to climb up in a chair and have a snack.  So he did...

He has continued to grow, along with working on those four front teeth.  We put on his church shoes this morning and noticed that they were too small.  It has been a couple of weeks since he has worn them, but I know that they were not that tight when we last put them on.  His four teeth get closer every day.  When you feel them you can feel something sharp through the gum, but they haven't popped out yet.  I will be grateful when they do!  I think the combination of him growing and the teeth is making him grouchy...not that it is really that bad.

I also experimented with watermelon.  We had some that needed to be eaten due to our unexpected departure a couple of weeks ago.  I made some watermelon ice cream.  It was a little too cold for Hyrum, but it wasn't half bad.  I didn't use an ice cream maker.  I blended everything and set it in the freezer.

I was put in charge of organizing 300 lunches for Sunday.  I think it went well based on the fact that it was completed and there were relatively few issues or comments that didn't need to be said.  It is also another working Sabbath for us, so Tim is out helping again.  I was out driving this week for the first time in areas that flooded and I don't know how everything is going to get picked up.  One house will fill a dumpster and there are hundreds of homes that flooded!

Well, until next week!
