Adventures all week!

Last week carried over into this week.  I watch one of the children of the family whose mother was in the hospital.  He came over in the morning and spent most of his day with us.  Luckily for the family, mom was released.  I think she was happy to be home.  While the little boy was over we joined some other moms from the ward at the zoo.  We started off with a group but eventually it got too difficult to stay up with them.  I feel like I got a glimpse of how it is to have twins.  The boys were about the same age.  They didn't want to sit in the stroller, so I was waking at a very slow pace as one wanted to push and one wanted to wander off.  Can you guess which one wanted to wander...mine (insert sad face).  I did get a good picture of Hyrum watching the elephants.  It was fun to watch him with the animals.  I think it helped him to make sense of some of the animals we talk about having seen them for real.

On Tuesday a med student came to stay with us.  His family was renting a house that flooded.  He has been hopping around since then trying to stay in the med center so he can continue to attend classes. His wife had some interviews in the med center so she came over for dinner.  I tried my hand at stuffed peppers, definitely an adventure.  I made it with quinoa.  We thought it as pretty tasty and apparently quinoa is a super food of the Gods, so I guess it is really good for you too.

Hyrum and I joined one of his little friends at the duck pond to feed the ducks.  He has never done it before.  He seemed content to watch the birds as they would fly or try to grab food from our hands.  The ducks are not afraid of humans.

Which brings us to the weekend.  We were all excited for General Conference.  Hyrum did well...during the music.  He really didn't pay attention to the rest.  Go figure.  I decided to make cinnamon rolls.  Ever since I discovered that you can put dough in the fridge over night, it's been a game changer.  I decided to try making it up Friday and baking it on Saturday morning, so we would have fresh rolls without waking up at the crack of dawn.  Results...happy campers all around.  Hyrum even learned a new word...cinnamon roll.  It's really cute to listen to him.

Tim had his first call night on Friday.  We picked him up just in time for the first session of conference.  He was able to get a few hours of sleep, but he struggled with this call night.  It's very different than surgery.  We have tried a new routine in the evening to try to help Tim study more.  He has been staying later on campus and coming home in time for us to go on a run.  I decided after two years it's time to get back to it.  After our run we put Hyrum to bed and then Tim gets dinner.  It has worked better for him.  We will see how week two works.

Hyrum is declaring it's time to go outside...so I guess I better go.
