Time went by so quickly! I can't believe I am back in Houston updating you on the happenings of our last week. We had a great time in Utah adventuring, seeing friends and family, and enjoying the dry heat. Houston has been heat wave that should be ending very soon...darn...we just missed it!
Well, let's get started with our last week. I am going to admit it now, we were a little boring and didn't take too many pictures.
Sunday, was a Zimmerman gathering. All of the siblings left in Utah got together to have a dinner. The main course was ribs, and surprise, surprise Hyrum loved them. He has been doing a lot better recently eating meat. I never know when he will eat it or not, but he loved the ribs. It must be the fact that all of the molars have fully erupted. We had a great time catching up with family and enjoying company.
Monday to Wednesday were indoor days. I can't tell for sure, but I think the baby has already dropped. It has made keeping up with Hyrum even more difficult, as I walking, steps, running, and all things active are more difficult with increased ligament pain. I have also had an increase in braxton hicks contractions, which makes it even more difficult to go more than a duck waddle. Just so that you know, a duck waddle pace does not keep up with a Hyrum pace. We did manage to make it to the park one last time for some cousin time. I sat in the shade and let Hyrum do his thing. Hyrum was able to play with his cousin that is just younger than him. We discovered a few interpersonal skills that we need to address with Hyrum. Let's just say the terrible twos are in full force.
Tuesday evening I went down to Provo for a roommate gathering. A few of the girls and some spouses got together. I was great to see them and catch up on life. So much can happen in two years....like babies, job changes, and so much more. I had a really good time. It was just nice to be with so many people that I have such a long history with, you get to skip all the awkward beginning friendship things and get to the heart of life.
Friday was the big push to get things ready for the trip home. We decided to leave at 4 am, which is really early if you didn't already know. Lucky for me, I had to go to the bathroom at 3 am, so we were able to leave a little early. We made good time to Lubbock, with a few gas stops. We also swung by a McDonald's for a quick dinner. We don't go out to eat very often and Hyrum loved sitting in the big chairs and eating his burger. It was a great break and we were able to make it the rest of the way with only a few more tears. Fifteen hours is a long time to be strapped down.
We enjoyed some more time with family in Lubbock, before crashing for the night. We didn't get up quite so early, but we still left by 6:30 in the morning. We hit up church in Abilene and just for your information the water in Abilene is TERRIBLE!! We rocked it the rest of the way home and made it in time for dinner and for Hyrum to whirl through the house opening and getting everything out that he hasn't seen in four weeks.
It has been nice being in our space again...not so nice with the heat. Hopefully, we will be able to survive two more months of intense heat.
Here's to no alarm clocks on a Monday morning!
