Survival Mode

We have now entered the survival mode of this pregnancy.  I still haven't progressed any, so I will have my next appointment at almost 41 weeks.  Until then we will continue to press forward with 3:30 am wake up times and two naps a day.  The last month of this pregnancy has not been as pleasant as the last month of Hyrum's.

Any who...Tim began his Galveston rotation this week.  It's a long commute every day, but it hasn't been as bad as I thought.  Tim seems to be enjoying his time, maybe a little less than usual, because of everything else going on.  He had some late nights working on a presentation for a Derm conference this month.  He continues to work on trying to wrap up case reports.  They seem to be never ending.  Just when I am sure he is done, something else pops up and he is back at it again.  He also worked on uploading his residency application.  I think he is almost done with that...he better be because it is due this month.  He is also gearing up to study for the next STEP which he will take this month as well.  With everything and a newborn...it's going to be crazy!

Because Tim has the car, Hyrum and I were at home all week.  I did my errands in the evening after Tim got home.  Hyrum is getting really good at pretending.  A lot of the books from the library this week have instruments in them, so he has been focus on instruments.  We watched several videos of various instruments and he enjoyed pretending he was playing the instruments.  Who knew rolling pins could become trumpets!

However, sometimes pretending gets a little out of control.  For instance, Tim had just called to say he was on his way home.  We have been gearing up for potty training...for real...so have talked a lot about Hyrum using the bathroom.  I'm not even sure how it happened, because one second Hyrum was playing with his animals and my brown bear and the next thing that registered was the toilet seat closing.  Apparently after 30 some years my brown bear needed to be potty trained.  We had a nice little discussion on how we don't put stuffed animals in the toilet and bear got a sanitizing bath...poor guy.

Hyrum is a hoot most days.  I'm not sure where he gets it from, but the things he says and does are just funny.  We have our fair share of tantrums, and even his tantrums are funny sometimes...when they aren't exasperating.  For example, one of his favorite tantrums phrases..."But, (insert person or object), don't want to (insert action) because he wants to."  I hear, "But, mom don't want to go outside, because she wants to."  Makes no sense, but it's really funny when he is having a tantrum.

After not seeing Hyrum all week, Tim took a little extra time on Saturday for some father/son bonding.  Our pool has been closed for months and was finally cleaned and opened.  Tim took him swimming.  He still doesn't like the water much and sits on the steps, but at least he had fun with dad.  I joined for a little bit and has Hyrum said, "Mom dip her toes."  Tim has Monday off too, so hopefully the pool will be open then and we can go again.

I think that is all from us.  Maybe next week I will have baby pictures to share, but if not the following week for sure...she doesn't get a choice after next week...I'm taking away her agency!
