A week of sickness!

This week was filled with sick family members.  I'm not sure how started it because we all had something slightly different.  But, Tim was the first to come down with a cold this week...so we can blame him!

We are up to five interviews each for both derm and his prelim year.  We feel blessed to have that many, because Tim keeps hearing from others that they do not have as many.  Hopefully, we will get a few more in the coming weeks.  I would say this last week was hard for Tim, because he was back at the hospital and he was sick all week.  His studying was not as successful and he didn't cover as much as he normally does.  We are down to one week before the STEP exam.  I am excited for it because this will be the first time in medical school where Tim won't be studying for something, which means we get him more in the evenings!  This coming week will also begin the interview season.  He has his first prelim year interview at our school.  Pretty much every week after he has one to two interviews scheduled!

Despite my best hand washing efforts  Lila came down with a cold too.  She seems to be handling it well, which has become her new MO.  I am not sure what it is about the two month mark, but she seems to have made progress in figuring out life.  Hyrum was the same way.  So, this week we had much less screaming, crying, and general fussiness.  She is also getting better at sending signals of when she is tired and hungry.  We were always really confused at how to help her before, but now her signals are more clear.  Or maybe WE finally figured it out!  This week she also exploded with movement, sounds, and smiles.  Now every time she is awake we have lots of everything before another nap.

Hyrum had a cold for most of the week as well.  We were excited for his first Halloween where he could really experience it, but we missed it due to he cold.  When he asks to go down for a nap after just waking up for a nap, you now it's serious.  He took it well and we tried to make it fun for him.  He continues to learn and grow.  He has picked up several more letters and we have started talking about sounds with him.  He is getting really good a picking out letters in stories.  His favorite of course is H for Hyrum.  He had his two and a half year appointment.  He continues to be in the top percentile for height and weight.

As for me, well I took care of the sick and tried to stay healthy.  Unfortunately, I came down with a cold by the end of the week.  With everyone sick, I made the executive decision on Saturday that we would all be staying home from church.  We had no business sharing what we have had and we just needed time to get better.  So, we did church at home.  It was short, much like family home evening.  We talked about the 10 lepers with Hyrum and gratitude.  We pulled up the bible video on the TV and Hyrum enjoyed watching it.  We introduced our grateful turkey, and added some things we are grateful for.  We will spend this month talking about being thankful!

I think that is about all from us.  A slightly depressing week with so much sickness, but next week will be better!
