Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Oklahoma has been non-stop action since we arrived.  Hyrum has enjoyed running around the house and yard.  There has been plenty to explore and play with.  Tim has done a lot of inside and outside work and Hyrum has been about to do a lot of "work."  I'm not sure if he "worked" as much as the rest of the boys, but he sure had fun digging and helping.  I will say that Hyrum does not have an aversion to working.  Give him a machine or tool and he is a happy camper.

Christmas was a success.  As mentioned before, this was Hyrum's first Christmas where he would really understand what was going on and he liked it!  Hyrum enjoyed his presents also known as presidents.  Probably the favorite gift was the scooter.  After opening it and realizing he needed a helmet, he asked if every gift after was his helmet.  He didn't quite get it that I brought his helmet from home and already had it ready for him to use.  Another favorite gift was instruments.  We got him a small instrument set, which he has enjoyed playing with.  Dad/Grandpa wasn't so sure about all the noise.

Poor Lila slept through her first Christmas.  I guess it's okay, because she is just a baby and really has no idea what is going on.  She enjoyed hanging out with family and chattering at them.  Speaking of which, boy does she chatter!  In a week and a half she will be four months.  She babbles a conversation with anyone who will make eye contact.  She has also decided that facing forward and sitting up is the way to go.  She isn't much for laying on her back any more.  She loves to be on her tummy and sitting with the big people.  She seems to be ready to take it all in just like Hyrum.  I'm not sure I am ready for all the changes.  She discovered how to roll from stomach to back and has been doing her best to roll from her back to her stomach.

Funny story.  Hyrum decided that he wanted to hold Lila.  His interaction with her are still limited, but he does have some tender moments where he will pat her or move something off her face so she can see.  Any way...he said he wanted to hold her so Tim gave her to him.  He promptly said, "Ummm...actually she is really heavy."  He settled for sharing Lila with Dad.

Let's see...I feel like more happened.  I guess that is the way the holidays go.  We enjoyed lots of time with family.  I know Hyrum enjoyed having more people to read to him and play with him.  I'm not sure how excited Brian and Erin were to play cars, but Hyrum loved it.  Oh!  Now that I am thinking about cars.  Hyrum has utilized the bulldozer and long halls to create roads.  It was fun to watch him build.  And speaking of building, I also just remembered that there were electricians in the house for a couple of days.  Hyrum really enjoyed watching the workers and their tools.  He stayed engaged far longer than any 2 year old that I know.

Probably the Christmas gift for Tim and I is the fact that Hyrum has stopped waking up in the middle of the night.  We haven't made it a full week, but it is definitely looking up.  He also stayed in nursery today, which was a worry because it has been a real struggle for a while.  We left him to play and he stayed happy until we picked him up.  Crossing our fingers for great things in 2019!

We hope each of you had a Merry Christmas and have a very Happy New Year!
