Kansas Vacation

We started off the week with a vacation on a vacation.  Since we were so close to grandparents in Kansas we made a quick trip up to visit and let them meet Lila.  We made the five our trip in good time and the kids didn't do too bad.  We had fussing and tears, but we managed.  We arrived in Paola first to visit and Hyrum had a blast learning about grandpa's tools.  We enjoyed chatting and hearing all the good stories, like the time dad took a wrong turn and ended up hours away in the wrong direction.  Yeah, that one never gets old!  I was worried about all of grandma's pretties, because Hyrum is like a human wrecking ball.  We managed to leave their home in one piece!

We stayed in a hotel that night.  It wasn't the first time Hyrum has stayed in a hotel, just the first time that he can remember.  In all it wasn't a bad experience.  We did have a five a.m. wake up by Hyrum stating he was hungry and when he tried to get out of bed he fell and bonked his head on the other bed.  Thankfully there wasn't any blood.  He thought breakfast at the hotel was a blast and wasn't ready to leave.

But, little did he know the tools that awaited him at Uncle Mike's house.  We headed to Topeka to visit Uncle Mike and Grandma Langdon.  We had a nice visit.  Grandma was able to hold Lila most of the time and Hyrum played with tools.  Not sure if you are seeing a pattern, but if you have tools Hyrum will be happy as a lark!  We said good-bye and headed back to Oklahoma.

Mike wore Hyrum out so much that within 15 minutes of being in the car he was out!  We had a peaceful 40 minutes.

This was Tim's off week for interviews.  He will be gone for most of next week in Utah interviewing before we head back to Houston.  He played a lot with Hyrum, which I appreciated because I a working hard on naps with Lila, so hopefully we get back to Houston with a good nap schedule, meaning more than 40 minutes.  She has her good and bad days, so I know she is capable it's just a matter of helping her get in good naps.  She continues to grow.  It's a good thing we are going back to Houston, because her clothes are getting snug!  She continues to move.  She rotates to get her toys and rolled twice in a row to get what she wanted.  Hyrum was always active, but she is learning a lot faster than he ever did.

Besides playing with dad, he also had a horse/tractor adventure.  Some neighbors let him come over to see the horses.  He wasn't too interested in the horses, but man once he saw their John Deere, he was on it...literally.  I am always amazed at his interest and passion for tools, fixing, and heavy machinery.

We also made a quick trip to a local Potawatomi museum.  I enjoy learning about local history and Tim was kind enough to just take the kids so I could read and learn.  I felt bad that he didn't get to learn much, but I guess that is kind of the way it is when you try to do adult activities with young kids.

And for your visual pleasure...not sure how it got on her head, but it did and it is darn cute!

I apologize a week in advance, but next week's update may be late or non-existent as we will be driving back to Houston and getting caught up on life!
