It's already feeling like summer here in Houston. I'm already sporting an impressive sandal tan. Last week I wrote how we were going to set up the tent. Turns out the tent was MUCH bigger than I remembered it. It pretty much filled our entire front room and it made a lot of noise. Within the first five minutes, I was regretting the idea. Oh, well. You live and you learn!
Hyrum did a lot of digging and building this week. His little mind still revolves around all things construction, building, and roads. He started building ramps this week, which was knew.
Our apartment is situated so that in the heat of they day, the patch in front of our apartment is in the shade. It makes playing outside more bearable when it is 90 degrees out. The fire ants haven't been too bad by our apartment, so I let Hyrum go out without his shoes. That has been one thing that made me sad about Houston. Hyrum doesn't really go barefoot because of all the fire ants. Amazingly, neither of us have been bitten yet. Any who...he loved loading dirt into his bucket loader and transferring it to a dump truck to be moved to another location. Oh the power of dirt!
He continues to be a pill sometimes. When he is good, he is golden. But, sometimes he is exasperating. Lots of big emotions to navigate and learning that just because someone else does it doesn't mean that he can. As well, life isn't one big game and sometimes mom and dad mean business. Which can be hard to act like business and not crack a smile, when I have told him no kicking Lila's baby toys in the house a trillion and one times and he asks, "Well, can I roll the ball with my foot?"
Lila girl turned 7 months this week. Hyrum likes to take pictures with her, so I was able to snap one of the two of them sitting somewhat still. Hyrum is getting better at saying cheese and looking at the camera at the same time. It only took him three years!
I was able to get this one of Lila and I think it fits her hello world, determined personality. She is a very happy baby. If she fusses their is a reason and otherwise she is pretty content. All though this week I notice a few times that she would start crying if I went out of view, which is weird. I don't ever remember Hyrum being clingy, so it's a new mom experience.
We also lowered all her beds this week. She has been sitting up, but this week she decided she could bounce better if she was on her knees, which puts her at a good angle to launch herself out of bed. It is really funny to watch her bounce. Big smiles, flying hair and swinging arms. No crawling yet, but I can just see her little mind working and trying to figure it all out.
We made it to the local park this week and Lila had her first swing experience. Hyrum did a good job pushing for about 12 seconds and then he was off. She enjoyed her time there, which wasn't long. The time between Lila's naps are so short that it isn't very good for extended playing.
Tim continues to work on his critical care rotation. He enjoys his time and is learning a lot. He also continues to help with sports physicals. We think he has it set with UNC for him to stay for three years for internal medicine. I think they are just working on some funding, but will go ahead and schedule him for internal medicine. It's a big blessing/relief.
Saturday we went to our neighbors house for breakfast. They are from India, so we had a traditional Indian breakfast. It was super tasty and made we want to travel.
That's about all from us!
