We've made it another week. The week was a mix of rain and perfect weather. We also had some great front row seats to construction...more on that later!
Tim finished up his five days of nights. Things were pretty quiet, except for his last night when several attendings said they had not seen a patient as critical as this one in a very long time. I guess it was intense. It's been a little hard transitioning back to days, but that is always the case. We found that his schedule has been changed again. He will have five days off and then work five days from home doing "visits" over the phone. It's a crazy time to be a resident. I am looking forward to having him around for the next 10 days, though he will be studying during the day.
Hyrum had a grand week watching the construction workers. They started working on our building. Apparently, the stairs were unsafe in many of the buildings, so they have been replacing sections. There was lots of pounding outside our door at the beginning of the week. Hyrum and Lila were able to watch the workers doing their thing. Of course, Hyrum was full of questions that I tried to answer, but sometimes I just didn't know.
I have been doing some cleaning and organizing. I am always finding things to get rid of or a pile that I have let build up. I am also getting things organized for summer. We won't be doing formal preschool, but I am wanting him to do some educational activities daily to keep his mind going until we start something in the fall. With Tim being home for the next 10 days, I am going to utilize him to watch the kids. I would like to go through teaching boxes and get some other things done that are easier without helping hands.
Another week down in quarantine and here's to another!

We hit a major milestone for preschool. Hyrum has finished up the alphabet. He pretty much mastered the letters and sounds several months ago, with the exception for a few letters and sounds that trip him up. It's funny to see him try to distinguish between the /m/ and /n/ sounds. He continues to work on counting to 100 and beyond. I am also really impressed with his reading skills. He has about 10 sight words. We have been working on basic skills and haven't really got him into easy readers. He is ready for it and I am excited to see how fast he picks it up. A cute Hyrum story. He decided that he wanted to make a pop-up card for Lila. It's hard to see his artwork, but he made Tim cut out Lila's name. Better Tim than me!
Hyrum is pumped for his birthday. We have what he wants to eat nailed down and I made a run to Walmart to get a couple of gifts. He has asked about having friends over, and was a little bummed that he couldn't have anyone over. He seemed to accept it and move on, which I am grateful for. He helped to make peanut butter blossom cookies. His job was to roll the cookies in sugar and put the chocolates on the cookies. He did great and we only ended up with one bowl of sugar on the floor.
Lila is a gem. She is full of hugs and has learned to say yes. Previously, it has sounded like yeah. It's so cute to hear her say the /s/ sound. She continues to practice words and is getting better at answering questions by pointing while we are looking at books. Her new favorite thing is playing with decorative rocks. I find them everywhere and they are very loud when she starts stirring, but man they keep her occupied for HOURS! She starts the day by finding the rock container and will dump, pour, mix, and shake rocks into various containers. She ends the day in much the same way. She also enjoyed watching construction workers.
