Skinned knees!

You know it's summer when you start seeing skinned knees and elbows.  We have plenty of both at our house.  Hyrum is sporting scratches on both knees and elbows and Lila got this beauty yesterday.  It has been funny to watch Lila milk her scratch for all it's worth.  There is lots of limping and requests to be carried because it hurts.  She's turning into a drama queen like Hyrum!

Liam is full of smiles and has decided that smiles and fun are even better in the middle of the night or at five in the morning.  Mom and dad are definitely not smiling.  He has been the most difficult so far of our kids to get into a sleep routine.  He is still all over the place, while the other two were very predictable at this age.  They weren't perfect by any means, but they were predictable.  He continues to work on his laugh.  He now rolls onto his stomach almost immediately when set down and he is working on crawling.  He likes to lift his bum and try to pull himself.  He also loves making noises and grabbing.  He is super strong and once he grabs onto something it's really hard to get him to let go.  I didn't think a four month old was capable of playing games, but he definitely likes to play this one.  He also loves to watch Hyrum.  I think Liam learning to roll on his stomach so fast is because of Hyrum.  It's so much easier to track Hyrum as he is running, jumping and doing what Hyrum does best when you're not upside down.  He loves to watch Hyrum and Hyrum gets lots of smiles and giggles.

We had a mix of rainy days and sunny days this week.  We tried to get outside as much as possible.  I feel like we have made a fast transition from winter to summer.  We went from still needing the heater because of low temperatures at night, to not needing it at all.  The kids are enjoying their shorts and Hyrum has been requesting popsicles.  It's not quite that warm, but we are getting there.

We spent a lot of time talking with Hyrum this week (and many weeks previous) on being like Jesus and kindness.  We have the typically jealousy and poor sportsmanship and we have been trying to combat it with Jesus.  Tim snapped this picture this morning, because Lila's leg was hurting and wanted Hyrum to comfort her.  So, he jumped in the crib to be like Jesus.  We are still working on the sportsmanship, but that one will be a work in progress for a very long time.

Tim worked hard this week to actually have a weekend.  He typically has something residency related that requires time away from kids on his days off.  He finished up his poster for a conference and his presentation for the other residents.  Residents have to do little teaching sessions throughout the year and this was the last one for second year.  He spent a lot of time working in the orthopedic clinic, but will be transitioning to a busy hospital schedule for the next two weeks.  It was good that he had so much free time on Saturday, because he ended up taking the kids to a park to play and have a picnic and then we ended up with free tickets to the Life Science Museum in Durham that he took the kids to in the afternoon.  They had so much fun at both places.  Poor Lila was falling asleep on the way home and slept soundly last night.

I opted to stay at home to continue to work with Liam and his sleeping.  I didn't have much luck, but I tried.  I also did some packing and cleaning.  Most of the packing is done.  The only things left are those that we really need in the next couple of weeks like toys and pots and pans.  I have spent a lot of time over the last year really getting rid of things that we don't need or use.  As well, many things were never unpacked from Houston, which makes it even easier.  I had a Relief Society meeting this week.  It will be my last one before our move.  It's crazy how fast things are happening.  Tim and I were talking this week about how things won't slow down because Tim has to start preparing his fellowship application and then everything that goes with that over the next year.  I am grateful we are getting so close to the end of this journey.  We still have two and half years, but it's coming fast!

We hope everyone enjoys their week in preparation for Easter and General Conference.
