The week of weeks was finally here! Hyrum has been so excited for the Easter bunny to come and was asking all week how many more days. Both kids were super excited and had lost of fun hunting for eggs, but I am getting ahead of myself.
Tim had a super busy week. He has to travel to Raleigh, which is about a 40 minute drive. He has to wake up extra early to be there by six and there is always lots to do for the patients, so there are plenty of late nights. But, he had a first in his residency...at least I think it is a first. If my memory survives me right the Saturday session was the first time he has been able to watch conference in real time. I thought for sure he had Easter off too, but was informed last night (apparently for the third time) that he had to work today as well. Luckily, he was able to come home early enough for the last session of conference.
The kids are getting excited to move. I have been packing a few boxes every day. Unfortunately, the kids see what I am packing and want to play or use the item. I have to explain that we need to pack it so we can take it to our new place. We picked up the keys on Saturday and went to look at it only to discover that it was not ready for a move-in. They had put in new flooring and carpet and it was a hot mess. The kids still got to run through the house and check things out.
Hyrum continues to improve in his reading nd math skills. He has taken more of an interest in writing numbers and words. Historically, writing hasn't been his favorite. He has been getting into magic and casting spells. It's been fun to see his imagination expand. We also talked a lot about Easter and the Resurrection and the real reason we celebrate...sorry Easter Bunny. As previously mentioned he was still plenty excited to hunt for those eggs.
Lila is ever the mother hen. She is trying to help more with feeding Liam baby food, cleaning up his spit-up and assisting with baths. She loves to go on adventures with us when we leave. Poor thing has been very deprived the last year. She was super pumped to go with Tim to pick up pizza. Mom was not feeling making the traditional pizza and cinnamon rolls since she couldn't have any. The kids did get some pancakes, which Hyrum has seriously been asking for every day for the past two weeks.
Liam has FINALLY started napping! After six weeks of progressively worse naps, I decided to stop trying to lay him flat and go back to the rock n play. He has been a puzzle. There was definitely light at the end of tunnel by four months with the other two. Liam is four months and three weeks. It's been a struggle because I would be spending several hours every day trying to get him to sleep, back to sleep, or just plain sleep. It didn't go so well for the other two being alone and let's just say everybody was a mess. After watching Liam for several naps and doing some reading, I came to the conclusion that he has not lost his startle reflex. The swaddle helped a ton, but with him rolling and able to escape, we have had to get rid of it. The rock n play has helped him not move so much and in turn sleep. We started off the week with an hour and a half nap and then every day got a little better. Today he took an hour and 45 minute morning and a two hour afternoon with me helping him get back to sleep in the middle and a little evening nap. He is generally happy, but he was even more calm and happy after having so much sleep. I am really hoping that he keeps it up, so we can get on a more predicable schedule. Liam also discovered just how tasty a toe can be. He has started pulling off his socks, so he can get that big toe in his mouth. He is also getting better at laughing, eating baby food, and grabbing things.
We were also excited for the weekend. It was so gratifying to see Hyrum so excited for conference. Lila and Liam were napping through most of it, but Hyrum did well watching and playing so we could listen. His favorite part was watching the commercials in between sessions. We started off Sunday with the kids sleeping until eight. I was grateful, because it allowed me to sneak outside to hide some eggs. I wasn't sure how I was going to do it without Tim. The kids hurried through breakfast and getting ready, so they could find their eggs. The squirrels got two of the eggs. At least they showed mercy and made sure one of them was Hyrum's and one was Lila's so there were still equal eggs.
