Fall break...sort of.

Monday I was rereminded (yep...just made that up) that it was a short week.  The district originally gave the kids Veteran's Day off, but last week decided to give them Friday off as well.  We never officially got a Fall break, so I feel like this is it for us.  Any way, before I forgot I did some brainstorming to come up with some things we could do, so we have had some fun things towards the end of the week.

Tim was stuck at the hospital all week again.  He's been putting in some serious hours.  He gets home extremely late most nights.  I think he likes the service, but it is filled with very complicated patients that require a lot of research and coordination and reading.  He's missed the kids.  They haven't really seem him in about 10 days.  Hyrum happened to wake up before 6 one morning and saw him leaving and then Tim has gone into their bedroom to wake them up to say goodnight when he doesn't get home too late.  Today is his last day in the hospital and then he leaves Sunday morning for his interview in Memphis.  He should be back Tuesday afternoon.

Hyrum had a great, short week.  He enjoys his friends at school and enjoyed play outside with friends at home.  The bus driver has switched the route on us, so we had to run to the bus stop a couple of times this week.  We made it fine, but there's nothing like a little adrenaline to wake you up in the morning.  He's been creating machines with his legos again and really enjoying a couple of new book series that I found.  It can be really hard to find him books to read on his level, especially when he reads so fast!

Lila enjoyed make hot chocolate this week for preschool.  She is doing well with recognizing letters and counting.  She too has enjoyed playing with friends outside and playing with me inside.  The weather has been really warm this week, so we spent more time out on walks and riding bikes in between naps while Hyrum was at school.  She is getting really good at breaking with her pedals instead of her shoes.

Liam is chattering away.  He fed himself a red sauce pasta this week and of course I took a picture.  I almost got a picture of him with his sauce spikes like Hyrum had when he was this age.  Unfortunately, he redid his hair before I could get the picture.  He has learned up and jump this week.  It's exciting to hear his words coming in.  He mostly gets the ending sounds, which is so different than the other two.  He has discovered cars and loves to get them from the toy box and drop them down the seat of his chair.  It's really cute to watch him.
Hyrum had Thursday and Friday off.  We started with a museum.  It's been a few months since we have gone, but we went with some friends.  We didn't actually stick with the friends, but went to explore areas that we had not been to previously.  We got to see the lemurs.  We tried at the zoo when we went this summer, but they weren't out.  The kids, including Liam enjoyed looking at them.

Friday we made a trip to the library.  It's always an adventure with three of them.  We picked up a Paw Patrol DVD.  I had planned on doing a movie afternoon with the kids, but Hyrum asked if he could invite friends over.  I sent out a text and five kids came over to enjoy some popcorn and Paw Patrol.  It was fun to see them watching and chatting about the show.  We then went to burn some energy at the park close to our house, where there was an even larger group of kids already playing.

I'm updating a day early, but today's plans are to take the kids to a really fun park that we found this summer.  It has tons of climbing toys and should be fun.  If Google can be trusted, today will be our last day of really nice weather, before it starts to cool down again.

Next week should be fun getting some dad time in and celebrating Liam's 1st birthday!  I can't believe he is already a year old, but so it goes.  Until then!
