Snow #3

What a week!  Hyrum had most of the week off.  It started off with Monday-Wednesday for MLK day and teacher work days.  He went back on Thursday only to have Friday off for snow.  We have had bitter cold temperatures this week, which hasn't helped.  Our area really isn't equipped to handle snow and ice, so they tend to be extra cautious.  He will have a remote day tomorrow, due to roads again.  We had lots of crazy days and extra time with Tim as this was his week off before nights next week.

We braved the cold and spent time outside most days with other kids.  Liam was a champ and sat in the stroller while the other two played.  Hyrum's covid test took forever to come back...I'm guessing because of the weather and holiday.  It was negative, but Friday we received notification that his batch with positive again for covid.  He gets tested every week as a preventative measure.  The school will start offering individual tests for the kids with positive batches, which will be nice so we don't have to go get a test done.  We have definitely seen an increase in covid cases among the children at his school.  I'm crossing my fingers that it will peak fast.

We made cinnamon rolls on Monday.  Hyrum helped spread the butter and sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar.  Off course everyone got to taste test.  Liam had his first and he immediately picked up the word roll.  He has learned to roar and started barking any time he saw a dog.  He has also started pretending with the play kitchen stirring and pouring.  He continues to get into everything.

Lila enjoyed extra time with friends this week and playing in the snow with Tim.  She was funny and popped his hat on one morning.  It was out drying from the previous day and I snapped a picture because she just looks so darn cute!  She continues to love our little preschool and identifying letters that she already knows.  We are so proud of her, because we have finally turned a potty training corner!  It somehow clicked within the last week and she now goes poop on the toilet.  She enjoys her reward of Khan Academy, which is a great reward.  Now we need to work on the night training and then we will be set!

Luckily, the weather held for us on Thursday.  We decided to sign the kids up for swim lessons.  There aren't a lot of options locally for the kids to learn, but they started this week and loved it.  Already Hyrum is improving with putting his face in the water.  I guess it just takes someone else other than mom and dad trying to teach him.  Hyrum in particular needs a lot of help, but hopefully between now and summer he will make enough progress to be a little more independent in the pool.  Lila was all smiles the whole time.  Tim decided to go, because this will likely be the only time he will be able to see the kids in action.  It was nice to have him there to help with Liam, so I could get a feel for routine and how to handle lessons with all three kids.  It will definitely be more crazy than we are used to, but it will be worth it to have kids that can swim.

Thursday night it snowed just enough to cause them to close school on Friday.  They spent the day playing outside a little and they did a playdate at another friend's house.  It was nice to catch up with some of the mom's that I haven't seen in a while.  The big snow came on Friday night.  The kids woke up to a couple of inches of snow on the ground.  They literally spent the whole day outside.  They went out with Tim until he had to go in for a zoom stake meeting and I took over until lunch.  After Tim's meeting, it was almost time from Lila to take a nap, but he asked about taking the kids out.  They ended up going out for another couple of hours and playing with a different group of friends.  After Lila went down, Hyrum went out to play with a friend and then Lila went out to join them until dinner.  It was a full day of snow and friends.

They decided to cancel church again due to icy roads, so we enjoyed some time together as a family.  The kids love the pink couch and pulling it close to the TV anytime we have it on.  One of the best dumpster finds yet!

We already know that this Monday will be a virtual learning day.  I'm not sure what that will look like for Hyrum, but hopefully it wont be too crazy.  Tim starts nights this coming week, which is never fun.  He only has about four more weeks of nights and then he won't have nights again!  Here's to a warmer week!
