Snow Number 2!

Church was canceled today due to the weather.  The kids were super excited to wake up and see the snow.  We watched it fall all through Zoom church and they finally got to go out and play with dad.  This time the kids were much better prepared with rubber boots.  They had a blast experiencing very wet snow.  It should be interesting in the morning.  We are supposed to get more rain tonight and the temperatures are hovering just above freezing.  Tim is supposed to be back in the hospital (luckily he had the day off), but he might get an extra day.

Hyrum had a harder week at school with paying attention.  He is hitting the January slump.  I have been working with the school and at the end of the month he will start joining a first grade class for reading instruction.  After talking with the first grade teacher, she will do some testing and determine if he needs to join more often.  Hopefully, this will help him be less of a distraction in school.  Hyrum participates in weekly covid testing.  His test came back positive this week.  It's pooled, so we scrambled to get him a PCR test, so we can figure out if he actually has it.  He doesn't have any symptoms, but we'll see.  Tim got home in time to take him and there was quite the line.  They ran out the door and forgot his mask and a book.  Poor Hyrum was so bored.  Tim was desperate, so he whipped open the glove box and gave him the instruction manual.  Hyrum got to learn how to turn on the car and work different parts of the dashboard.  Thank you Toyota!

Lila and I had a fun week.  We braved the cold and went on walks.  I walked and she road her bike.  We learned all about the letter 'n' and she spent the week creating nests for herself.  She got to help feed Liam and continues to enjoy any opportunity to do what the adults do.  She also got her toes painted for the first time.  I was doing mine and she asked if she could have her toes painted.  She loves taking off her socks to admire them.

North Carolina is weird.  We spent our mornings bundled up on our walks and by the afternoon we were in our shirt sleeves.  She had a couple of days of fun with friends outside.  This is a fun one of them pretending to be witches.

Liam has had a huge developmental jump.  He is saying all kinds of words like ball, chair, book, more, and up.  He really doesn't crawl any more and he is learning to run.  He continues to frustrate me because he figures out how to get around barricades and open drawers that are harder to open.  He also found a love for mega blocks and cars.  He spent a lot of time this week putting blocks together and taking them apart in between purposefully driving cars under the oven.  Liam is becoming very possessive of Tim.  Tim didn't see the kids at all this week until Saturday evening.  Liam went to him to be held and any time Tim tried to set him down he would grab on.  He has also started pushing people away from Tim.  It's really funny to stand close to Tim and then watch Liam reach over and push you away.  Tim was also playing with the kids on the floor and Liam was trying to push the others away from Tim.  He's still working on his last eight teeth.  Two look like they are ready to pop any day and rest are just there causing pain.

I did a lot of leg work helping a sister with housing.  It's really hard in our area because prices have risen so much.  We also had to organize primary for Zoom.  They decided that they wanted to hold Zoom church, so we needed to organize kids and teachers, so families didn't have four different devises going at the same time.  It's been fun to play with the kids this week.  Lila is learning to play with others and Liam is just getting into the playing stage.  It's nice when I get a few brief moments to work on dinner with the kids playing nicely.

Tim kind of has next week off.  He is going to do some studying because he has STEP 3 coming up in February.  He doesn't have much time to study due to his schedule, but hopefully we will get to see him some, especially since Hyrum has most of the week off.

Until next week!
