Sick again, or is it still?

I tell you what!  We just can't win in the health department.  In the past two months we have cycled through a stomach bug and two very intense cold/cough bugs.  We kept the boys home last Sunday in the hopes that it would be the last of it, but on Monday Lila, Liam and I start feeling yuck.  It wasn't a pleasant week for noses or naps.  Tim started feeling sick later in the week and commented on how bad it's been.  He's been sick three different times, which NEVER happens.  I ended up staying home with all the kids today, because nasty coughs and drippy noses were still clearing up.  Everyone please cross your fingers and toes that we stay healthy this time!

The blog was updated so early last week that I didn't get a chance to post the most exciting news.  Lila learned to ride a two wheel.  Don't tell Hyrum, but she learned way faster than he did.  She's barely three and a half and Hyrum learned about a year ago.  We tried a couple of times without training wheels, but she got too nervous.  I finally convinced her to try her old balance bike and after about 20 minutes on that she hopped on her bike and basically went.  I have to remind her to slow down and keep her head up because she gets a feel of the wind on her face and she wants to zoom away!

She spent the majority of the week fussy, because she didn't feel well.  We are on break for the next two weeks from preschool.  Hyrum is on spring break this next week, so she is getting a bit of a break too.  She continues to pull a pile of books off the shelf multiple times a day to look through them.  As well as mothering anyone who will let her.

Liam was sick and I think also starting to go through the 18 month sleep regression.  He has spent a lot of time sick the last couple of weeks, but he has been clingy and fussier than usual.  To the point that he won't let the kids or Tim help him.  He doesn't have his pacifier any more to help sooth him, not that it really helps when he really gets worked up.  With the coughing this week he threw up several times.  He has always been more sensitive, the deep coughing just triggered his stomach.  Despite sickness his learning continued.  He has been saying Lila (YaYa) for a couple of weeks and we noticed him saying Hyrum (Hy yuh).  His forty minute naps put him awake long before Lila.  The second he hears her, he calls out, "YaYa," and heads for the stairs.

Hyrum managed to stay healthy...I think.  He still has a bit of runny nose from last week, but any sneezing and runny noses from here on out may be due to the abundance of pollen.  Two weeks ago we noticed yellow on the cars and new it had started.  It is very common to have yellow pollen plumes blowing in the wind all summer.  He enjoyed some time outside and playing.  Unfortunately, he ended the week on a low note.  I got another call from his teacher about behavior.  It's all very disheartening, because we seem to take one step forward and two steps back.  I am hoping the break will do him some good being away from school and peers.

Tim spent the week in a sports medicine clinic.  He hasn't been in one for a while and it has been fun for him, especially since he will be working full time with many of the doctors in a few short months.  He managed sneak away early on a couple of days, which was super nice.

I don't know if I have mention this, but I have been getting into gardening, well YouTube videos of homesteaders.  Tim can attest to the time spent watching various gardening videos.  We though it would be fun to get a tomato plan and plant some carrots for the kids to take care of and watch grow.  Saturday the kids and I went to get out tomato plant and ended up with four.  Plans had to be changed, because my giant pot wouldn't hold four.  We have a large area in front of our townhouse that gets a lot of sun, so that will be our first garden plot.  We had to run to Walmart to purchase more tomato cages and our first real shovel, because I couldn't make due with the play shovels.  Everyone got to plant a tomato plant and the kids got to help with the carrots.  We will see out it goes, because we also have a grub problem that I didn't know about until I started breaking up the dirt.  It wouldn't have been an issue if the original plan had worked, but now I am going to have to see if can't kill them before they kill our plants.  In all it was a fun family adventure and I do look forward to the day that we can have something more than a five by three plot.

I was able to teach a modified temple prep lesson before I got sick, to one of my ministering sisters.  I think it went well, despite the language barrier and having to yell because she can't hear.  We will teach a couple more lessons before she goes to the temple for the first time.

Until next week!
