Spring Break!

What a week! Thankfully we were all healthy, because it would have put a real damper on things.  I didn't make huge plans, but I wanted to have something to do every day with the kids.  Hyrum was super pumped to have the week off.  I think it was really good for him to have a break from school, the bus, and kids in general to regroup and relearn some behaviors.  We spent a lot of time during the week focusing on healthy ways to show emotions and interacting positively with others.

We started off with a visit to Duke gardens.  It was a beautiful area that the kids loved to run and explore.  It was a little chilly, but we had fun.  It was a good thing we have a heavy duty stroller, because there were lots of steps.

Tim was able to join us on this adventure.  He didn't have to be to clinic until the afternoon and he wanted to see them as well.  With only a year left we are trying to get a few things checked off on our list.  Many places have only recently opened and we are trying to catch up!

We lucked out with great weather for most of the week.  It was cooler on Tuesday, but we still braved the weather to check out a new bike park.  It was a little difficult for Lila to ride, but Hyrum loved the hills and Liam enjoyed the challenge of climbing.  Because we have been so sick the last couple of months the kids have a couple of extra swim lessons.  We used one of them on Tuesday night.  The kids enjoyed staying up a little later, because that was the only day I could get both of them at the same time.  We also had a day of rain.  Unfortunately, a van door was left open and we ended up running a power cord out to the van with a fan to dry things out.  It's all dry and put back together.  Hopefully, we don't have any more issues.

We did have some really great weather.  We spent a lot of time outside and I am pretty sure we are all sporting tans.  Liam is in shorts now and got his first knee scrape.  He likes to point to it and make sure we see it.  His nose and lip also scraped the sidewalk, so it was a big first.  Liam is very mobile now and knows what he wants.  He has figured out which patio is ours, so he frequently runs from the front to the back to get a ball or shovel.  We have to keep an eye on him because he is fast and can disappear.  Luckily, he has a few spots that he can usually be found...mostly dirt piles.

Thursday we did a big library trip.  One of the ways I occupy kids during conference is to get a ton of books and pull new ones out for each session.  Worked like a charm again.  There is just something magically about new books.  Thursday night was our regular night for swim.  Both kids are making improvements, but I was impressed with Hyrum's ability to swim.  He is starting to coordinate arms and feet to actually swim.

Come Follow Me has been all about Moses.  We decided to check out Prince of Egypt for the kids.  They really enjoyed watching it and eating popcorn.  I got to watch it a second time with Tim that night, because he had not seen it.

Saturday and Sunday were dedicated to Conference.  The kids did well.  We ate lots of good food and went to a little brunch with some neighborhood families on Sunday before Conference.  Tim was able to be home on Sunday.  He hasn't been able to watch Conference really since starting residency.

I'll add in that I went running twice.  I have always enjoyed it, but find it more difficult with each child.  With Lila and Hyrum on scooters or bikes, we did some experimenting.  It actually worked very well to have them riding while I push Liam.  I am hoping that we can keep it up!  Tim was able to watch the UNC/Duke game on Saturday.  He went over to another resident's house to watch it.  True to form, I did not follow it and when he got home he had to tell me all about it because I didn't know who one.  Apparently, it's a big deal the UNC won...again.  Poor Tim will be up late again watching.  Me, I'm hoping to be asleep by the time he gets home.

He's to a week of getting Hyrum back in the school routine, and mom getting out of bed on time!
