This week we focused on getting the kids back into routine and their sleep back on track. It's always hard switching time zones and I think we all struggled a bit to get back on eastern time. There was also lots to catch up on after being gone for almost a month.
I spent most of the week switching between cleaning and laundry and prepping for school. I spent a lot of time going through Hyrum's curriculums and getting things ready. I think Hyrum is excited about it, as he has been asking to start early. It's tempting, but I still have a list of things that I want to get organized before starting. It's exciting, but I think it will also be an adjustment. I'm hoping that we can strike a good balance between Hyrum and Lila's schooling and regular life.
Hyrum discovered the joy of Pokemon. It's been a fairly recent thing, but he is all into the graphic novels and we have over 100 marked for future check-out at our local library. He's becoming more versed in Pokemon lore and of course he loves to share with me, so I am learning more about Pokemon than I ever thought I would. He also spent a lot of time playing with a couple of the kids that are still in our neighborhood. There was a mass exodus of families while we were out of town. There are very few of us left, which is a little sad, but nice that there is still some kids to play with.
Lila has been playing more imaginative play...mostly with her baby and stroller. Liam has been joining in and wanting to play with her baby. It got to the point this week that I dug out an extra doll for him, to break up the fighting. Her shoulder continues to heal and she has been spending some time out of it every day. We are going to try to get her into so an orthopedist this week, but it might not happen. She continues to have her 'three'nager attitude. Unfortunately, she is directing a lot of it towards Tim. It's just something that we will have to wait out, but still super annoying. She has taken more of an interest in writing. She stays pretty focused on L and H, but is branching out to the easier ones like T and X. I always love watching kids at this stage. Everything is just so exciting.
Liam is a stinker. He loves to ignore you when you say no, all the while smiling a big double dimple smile. He probably adjusted the fastest of all of us sleeping, but that may have also been that he has been going through another language explosion and spending a couple of hours every night chatting up a storm. He repeats everything and loves to talk. He continues to do well with nursery and runs right to class to play. I consider it a blessing that all of our kids have transitioned to nursery so easily, because typically I don't have time/a chance to sit in with them because of callings.
Tim was in clinic all week and then a conference this weekend. Luckily, he was able to attend remotely, which saved us money and allowed him to still see the kids. We bought a pass to a local children's museum and took the kids this weekend. We have been several times with other people, but there were still some areas that I hadn't yet explored. We anticipate using it a lot over the coming year to supplement homeschool.
Tim will have another relatively easy week this week with a couple of football meetings. Next month things start ramping up and will be in full swing by the end of August. That's all from us!
