A Coughing Kind of Week

Most of us spent the week coughing.  Lila and Liam are our last holdouts, but hopefully another week will see them healthy.  Then we just wait until the next round of colds to go through.

It was a big week for us, most of the big stuff centering around Tim.  I'll wait until the end to share that news.  So, let's start with Lila.  She continues to enjoy preschool.  I started her on some tracing books in preparation for writing.  She really loves using the markers on them and is doing well.  She spent a lot of time this week saying she didn't need a tissue when she clearly needed a tissue.  Lots of coughing for her.  She rode her bike and scooter more this week and enjoyed the warmer weather.  It didn't rain as much this week, so we were able to spend more time outside.  She started jumping in the pool by herself and trying to do the backstroke, which was really cute.

Liam is a talker!  He is stringing three words together and it's getting easier to understand.  He has also improved his fork and spoon abilities.  He still gets plenty messy, but he is getting more food in his mouth.  He is starting to get into building.  He loves to all blocks and Hyrum's legos when he can get his hands on them.  Hyrum hates it, but what can he do when he chooses to leave his toys out in easy reach of siblings.  It's fun to just watch him put things together and try to build.  He loves being outside or leaving.  The second you say outside or time to go bye bye, he is running to find his shoes.

Hyrum is still enjoying school.  We have yet to have a meltdown or anything I would consider a struggle.  Compared to last year, I am very pleased with how things are going.  Math is his favorite subject, but any time  he gets to do something different he seems to love it.  This week for social studies, he needed to prepare an oral report on a topic of his choosing about Egypt.  He loved going to the library and learning about the dew decimal system and how to look at the table of contents to see if the book had information he needed.  We worked together to create the web and write it out.  It's hard to believe that we are only on the second week of school with what he has been doing.  He also enjoyed the extra time outside and going to the library three different times this week.  He went Monday for his report, Thursday for our homeschool activity, and Friday to get our books for the weekend.  I have a feeling we will be on a first name basis with the librarians by the end of the year.  We continue to work on emotions with him and how to properly express himself, because while school was great other areas weren't so great.  Oh, he also had a playdate with a friend that he hasn't for a while, so he was happy about that.

I stayed busy with the kids, school, working on training new teachers in primary, and everything else.  We went swimming Friday morning and then again on Saturday afternoon for a back to school pool party.  Tim was able to come for a bit before heading out to a game.

Which...leads us to Tim.  This week was super busy.  He didn't really see the kids.  The older two were able to see him for a few minutes in the morning, but he was gone every day until later at night.  Saturday was his latest.  It was the first UNC football game and it was a late night game.  He really enjoyed it, the only downside was getting home around one in the morning.

As this is our last year, the job hunt is beginning.  Most people say sports fellows don't really have jobs or even start looking until after college football is over.  He has kind of been looking just to see what is popping up.  There was a job that came up that interested his and he applied.  We weren't thinking much of it, because it's so early in the year, but he ended up getting a call for an interview.  It went really well and they would like us to come out and do a site visit and talk about a contract.  It was a bit stressful, because I did most of the extra research about the community and clinic talking with people who live there and reporting to Tim, because Tim had zero time.  It may be some time before we actually go out due to his schedule, but they seem very willing to accommodate him.

That's all from us!
